Hibernating my MC?

After a couple of months of ownership, I'm thinking of putting my lovely MC to bed for a few months over the rest of the winter.

I'm looking for advice on;

What's the best outdoor cover to avoid scratching the paint etc?

What's the best trickle charger?

Cheers in advance!

the answer is neither. you simply won\t be able to resist taking it for a spin, especially if it's not prepped/winterised for garage storage. that cover will be off and the trickle charger disconnected before you can say 'jack frost shagging my wife while i'm out hooning in the zed on a fine winter's day!

however, if you really must: cant advise u re a cover but ctek mxs5.0 charger ftw!

Ha Ha! Too true :D

I don't want to deprive myself the pleasure of driving it but I have half a mind on preserving it's stunning condition over the harsh, salty winter months.

Thanks for the charger tip, I'll get one ordered.

I would still advise you to drive it when it's dry and +4 degrees or higher (i.e. no grit). Things tend to go wrong when cars are left to sit for a while.

You should be able to drive it once every 2-3 weeks whilst limiting its exposure to harsh weather

Not putting one on would probably be best, I think covers are good at scratching the paint, especially ones that you put on to flap about outdoors.

Mine goes to bed for 4 months of the year and inst touched in the period. Over the last 5 years never caused any problems.

A CTEK charger with comfort cable for easy/quick connection would keep your battery alive. I would be inclined not to fit a cover as unless its perfectly clean and tight fitting it will wear your paint. A friend now needs a full respray on his TVR T350 after the cover came loose and wore through the clearcoat.

I wish I hadn't converted my garage now!

A carcoon has a built in power and charge unit, best of both worlds, both my mate and me have our cars in one, I'll swap with my ///M from time to time next year :driving:

Haha they are lovely, I've plenty of pics of the 240Z, the ///M is my friends immaculate 635 CSI Motorsport Edition with the ///M1 engine in it from the early 80's, one of only 20 RHD models and the VX220Turbo is his brothers 8)

Fantastic! Love those cars, and that colour really suits.
There's a chap over on cutters who has produced quite a magnificent beast with a supercharged S54 dropped in :happyclap:

At the risk of hijacking this thread even more...

Some pics of the 635 unicorn wouldn't go amiss either :)
