I've decided to try and do this correctly for once, and join you all before getting the car. I have been involved with Triumph Tr's for more years than I care to remember.I will be selling my Tr in the spring but am at present researching and looking out for a Coupe , possibly and M. Only BMW I have owned was a 1980 E12 M535i , great car should have held on to it.
Looking forward to learning lots from what appears to be an excellent forum.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, beautiful TR6. Surprised you're not going down the Zed roadster path having clearly enjoyed open top motoring :driving:

Hi and welcome - quite a few current and ex TR owners on here. Coupe? - you know you want a roadster - top down in seconds on the button no faff with levers; clips studs or getting out of the seat - topless is a lot easier than it used to be

Hi from a fellow Perthshire newbie. I went for the M roadster a few weeks ago. There seems to be huge amounts of information on here. Lots of lovely motors to look at also to help you get a feel for what you want. The coupe is a fantastic looking car, but the roadster on the right day will put that extra smile on your face. :D

Hi All
I knew this would happen, and you may all be right, and I may very well end up with a roadster, however I just love the looks of the Coupe. :headbang:

I pushed the button on an M Coupe earlier this year and can honestly say I have regretted a minute of ownership - roadster was never an option dies to need to keep outside all year and like you just loved the look.

Good look with the search and theirs at least one cracking car on the forum for sale

Thanks all.

The one issue that's bothering me is the running costs compared with my Tr, especially the road Tax.I appreciate that I've be spoilt silly with no road tax and fully comp agreed valuation insurance for under £100, but it's a hell of a jump. :(

I have just SORN'ed mine. Pay your tax by direct debit and SORN it for the winter to reduce your costs. As you know living in Perthshire the Gritters come out on November the 1st on the dot. They wont stop until the end of Feb at the earliest. If you want to keep it as nice as your TR it will be off the road. I paid just short of 300 quid for insurance. It's an M car. A fire breathing B'stard of a thing that just looks pretty.

A Coupe choice is the right one. Once you are nestled in the seat the car seems to envelope you and you feel part of the car. :) A feeling you don't get in a Z4 roadster. Welcome in from the cold.

Hi and welcome, from a fellow TR6 owner. Good luck with finding a Coupe or a roadster if you change you mind :D. Don’t sell the 6 you’ll only regret it. :o

Hi and welcome. It's a good idea to join before you start looking, as there is loads of useful information on here.

Your TR6 looks fantastic BTW. Just a thought, but if you looked for a 3.0Si instead of an M maybe you could keep the TR as well? Plus you'd save a coupe of hundred a year on Road Tax!

I've still never had a convertible - it had to be a Coupe for me just because of that shape.

Anyway good luck whatever you decide to go for - and post some photos once you've got it.

Why not a 35is e89? Best of both worlds. Hard too when you want it, no top when you don't :)

hi and welcome i had a mimosa yellow 150bhp TR6 for many years loved it to bits then got married and al went south :? now have the E85 3.0SI Roadster both very diffrent machines but very simlar the straight six rear wheel drive long hoods short boots both classic roadsters go with what you love about the TR open top motoring :driving: :driving:

I just picked up a 2006 Z4MR yesterday with 20k on the clock, I was really struggling to decide which to go for.
The coupe looks stunning ( if I clear space in the garage I might have to get one, earns more than money in the bank )
In the end I just needed the roof down pleasure for the summer with THAT soundtrack :-)
