I bought my Z4 Coupe 4 weeks ago, and have been hoovering up info from this forum since then, so I thought it only polite to say hello.

Initially I wasn't sure whether I'd made the right move, coming after 4 years in a Lotus 111R (& 7 years in an MX5 prior to that) to an "all comforts" beemer is a bit of a culture-shock! However a 2,000 mile roadtrip to Lake Garda & back has made me sure that this one's a "keeper". Torrential rain in the alps &37 degree heat by the lake would have been a nightmare in the Lotus.

Thanks to this forum I did the "sound-generator" mod within 2 minutes of taking delivery of the car, & the resulting noise is a highlight of ownership - loving doing the gratuitous blips of the throttle on every downchange. :)

The only downside so far is that its running on 18s with runflats, and occasionally it strongly pulls randomly left or right - worse than my puppy when he's got a scent to follow. Its also silver which isn't my favourite colour (would have preferred the blue) - but I bought it from a friend who's "upgraded" to a z4 sdrive 3.0 & I know its fabulous car in new condition. It was quite funny for the first couple of weeks as we both thought we'd made a mistake & wanted our old cars back.

Anyway thanks for all the info.
I'm sure I'll be asking daft questions, but I will use the search button 1st!

Its still filthy from the road-trip, will try & give it a clean & take some photos when/if it stops raining.

hello and welcome

why not post in the road trips section, lets see some pics, i am off to lake garda in just over 2 weeks

geepee, always good to have fellow coupe owners on the forum - RFTs are a common annoyance on the sport (although not so much on 17" shod SEs), and either get rid, or get used to it.

Pictures please

If you're going to Torri del Benaco, I have the security code for the Gardesana hotel car-park - could save you a day's parking fee.

Will try & do a trip posting with photos whan I get time, unfortunately work only piles up when you go away so lots to do.
Did the Furka pass on the way back, I hope you have better weather than I did.

Hi and welcome - great car choices I came from a 111S and have also had an MX5.
You really need to ditch the runflats. The difference is amazing.

bienvenido. Nice weather, I'm sure you enjoyed having a tinned roof.
sounds like a great trip to take all the same  .

Welcome  the run-flats have to go to feel the full benefit of this great motor, just my humble opinion :driving:
