Hi Guys... :thumbsup: ...just popped in to say hello, still keep an eye on the forum and gotta say ive got a little itch developing.. :D ...in the shape of an Alpina roadster, not sure it will happen quickly but can see me going that way sometime in the future, ive had the E46 M3 just over a year now and it is a great car but i do miss the Z4, it quite simply was the most enjoyable car i have ever owned, the M3 is better in certain ways, obviously performance, but sometimes it just feels ordinary where the Z4 always felt special, seen this on Pistonheads http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1536830.htm wasnt aware curtis had sold it to be honest but shame he dont want a px !!!..

Welcome back, I was considering an E46 M3 a couple of months ago, your Silverstone would be very tempting, but like you think I would miss the Z4 to much which is why I didnt do it.
 
srhutch, why don't you guys swap for a while, 6 months or something, as long as Plowy promises not to crash it?

Nice to hear from you again Plowy BTW. Nobody has posted your autobahn vid for a while, must be overdue :D :thumbsup:

I'd lend him my old banger, a few more dents in that would be OK, but as you hint he has trouble keeping the Z4 on the road. :poke:

That's really spooky. I watched that video on youtube this afternoon for the first time.
I assume it was a 3.0 z4 to keep as close as that. The 0-60 figure for that golf is 3.2 seconds :o
 
hi plowy !

im getting an itch to replace my z4 with something else, and for some reason the E46 M3 coupe/cab is looking rather tempting.

what are the main adv/disadvatages with the m3 versus the z4?

Easty...M3...Z4....hard call mate, i will say this, the Z4 is the most enjoyable car i have ever owned, the M3 is the most aggresive car ive ever owned, the ownership of this M3 is very good coz its a rare car given the colour, its hardcore fast and very good on track, the Z4 was obviously down on straight line performance but i swear it was a better handling car, what about this....with BMW CAR CLUB over the last 5/6 years i have done all track days at Croft, with my M3, Z4 and 330D Sport, i am accutely aware how quick each car was round Croft and in its modified state the Z4 i had was a second a lap quicker round that track than the standard M3... :thumbsup:

The fuel bill and service bill takes some swallowing but its an epic car....overall i would say if the running costs dont bother your pocket then buy an M3, if you are concious of fuel bills and servicing stick with the Z4, its a truely great car ... :thumbsup:

what you need is an M3 with Z4 running costs .
