Hi guys,

Just starting my research into my next car purchase.

I currently have a Mercedes C-Class Coupe and an MG TF. Well, the TF is the girlfriends that i bought her for her birthday last year, but I hate driving it (bean can on wheels), so looking at buying her a Z4 in the new year, which i will then promptly use as my main car and give her the Merc

Had a look through the forums and found quite a lot of good advice, so not really any point me asking questions as they have all been answered before.

I guess the main 2 questions i DO HAVE are, can i get a good example for between 9k and 10k? and, am i doing the right thing? 8)

Not looking to buy until next March, but I like to be totally clued up before spending large amounts of my hard earned cash!

EDIT: Just thought of another question, are the automatics common as that is what im wanting really, although it wouldn't be a deal breaker for the right car.

Cheers

Mark

According to other threads there are certainly a higher than expected proportion of auto coupes, less sure about the split on roadsters.

Would you not be better off finding the cash In Dec/Jan and blag a bargain b efore spring price rises again?

Yeah, i had thought about that, but i am goign to Australia over Xmas and New year, and in March i get my bonus from work.

Also, i need to offload the TF, which will be pretty tricky at the moment

Hi and welcome...

As lacroupade said, I'd be looking to buy in January when prices are traditionally lower! You get to spring and people are starting to think about summer and enjoying themselves... don't let that fool you though there's plenty of fun to be had in a Z in the winter! Wind deflector works very well... as do the heaters! (EDIT: just seen the in Australia post)

Reference the money... if you search for "merlot" there was someone here who bought a very decent looking merlot Z4 2.5 with reasonable mileage for £8995 IIRC... from a dealer!

I have the 2.5 which seems to go okay but would possibly want a 3.0 if I was going for an auto... which sounds like a good option. For that money though I'd be looking more and condition, mileage and history.

Good luck in the search.

I've seen this one on eBay and if i had the cash now, id definately be looking into it further

Have decided it has to be silver and it has to have those alloys

The same colour combo as mine, had those wheels as well before i sold them on and upgraded to 19's. The red leather is great in the flesh, not too bright as it looks on some photographs, so dont be put off by it. Happy searching anyway! good luck.

Welcome  good choice Silver on 108 rims the best :D

The Auto is a lovely car just make sure you shop around until you find what you want and you will be very happy :D

Enjoy OZ i was there in Feb as part of a month away missed all the snow :D

As PawnSacrafice mentioned it was me who bought the Merlot Red Z from the dealer...few minor issues but nothing that isnt being sorted out by them.....and yes the price was good, mainly cause of the time of year
