Hi from Hampshire

Good day to all, I'm new to Z's but not new to BMW's I'm on my 5th and have still got my E90 330 d LCI in space grey which I will keep as my workhorse and keep the Z4 in the garage for sunny and dry days. Couple of questions to start with, there is no wind blocker fitted, are the OEM ones still available, or is it a matter of looking round the breakers . I see classic additions sell one, which doesn't look as good as OEM but I could put up with it if there is no choice.

Secondly the tyres have been changed to non run flats some brand I've not heard of, rears are going to need replacement soon what is the tyre of choice here, only planning to use it on the road if that makes a difference.

I'll be collecting the car the weekend and post some pics then. Its Titan Silver with black leather and Elipsoid wheels that I quite like, got all the standard kit and Xenons. Cheers..... S.S

Hi and welcome along

Sorry can't help with your questions, apart from maybe tyres, I've got continentals on my 224 wheels, Michelin PSS on my CSL's and had Goodyear Eagle F1's previously too, I'm sure for road driving they're as good as anything, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help out, looking forward to seeing your pics :driving:

Hi and welcome to the forum

I think they are still available at a PRICE, but I am sure someone will soon correct me if I am wrong

My previous zed (E85) had 224's alloys fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres, they are really good and "sticky" once warmed up and they really grip the road. Ride quality from them is good with little noise and wear factor is no worse that other brand names, although as with everything it really depends how you drive :driving:

I will be buying them again once my current OEM tyres get worn down a bit more

Hi Welcome,

If you are after mid range tyres then Falkens or Vredestein are well thought of tyres here, Oh & post up some pics when you have got the car :)

Tony

Welcome to the Forum - your Zed will respond well to a fresh set of non runflats. I've used Falken 452 (now replaced by 543s) and am using Goodyear Eagle Assymetric F2s at the moment on the recommendation of Forum members but depending upon what you want to spend do be careful just which model of tyre you end up. See what others recommend.

The OE wind blocker is expensive and needs components fitting to your roll over hoops and boot for storage - do a search and you'll see. I have used a Perspex wind blocker from Just Roadsters on my first Z4 - it was a much cheaper (and more straightforward) solution. It worked well enough (all versions still leave some draught) and did not effect the rear view (the OE darkens your view). I still have it if you're interested. There is another 'strap on' which has a similar look to the OE item - it fits over the roll hoops and attaches that way. Many have retro-fitted the OE item so again, do a search and see what you think.

Your colour interior and wheels sound impressive - don't forget to post pictures.

:driving:

Hi and welcome. as above Falken 452/3 are well regarded on here.

OEM wind deflector should be available from BMW but will be a couple of hundred quid plus.

Hi Straightsix. Welcome to the forum.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of the car.

Whereabouts in Hampshire are you?

I see there's a couple of Surrey owners I'm in Basingstoke

My car is a 2004 3.0 litre has any one successfully retro fitted cruise control. ?

Not done this myself but have seen a few posts regarding this albeit I haven't read if it can be done. :tumbleweed:

Hi and welcome.

OEM wind deflector is great, but expemsive and unless your car has had one fitted previously then you will need the fixing points too.

Tyres I've had Vred Ultrac Sessanta and M Pilot Sports on mine since the OEM Conties wore out. Both have been fine and better than OEM rubber IMO.

No idea on the cruise control, have fun.

Full service completed today, clear high level brake light ordered, tyres reserved my... local place has the Falken 453's on offer at the moment £130 rear and £94 front.
