Hi All,

Thought I'd post a quick hello as all been well I'll be getting myself an E85/86 Z Roadster around June time. It'll be my first BMW and first roadster, and I'm just working out what specs I'll be looking for in an ideal world. I've come up with:

2.5/3.0 manual
Not too fussed about facelift
108's/135's if poss
Heated sports seats
Silver/Grey/Montego blue

Budget of approx £9k... Looking at the moment but seems pointless as any nice ones will be gone by the time I'm buying! (need to wait for 5th year of NCB as current insurer won't let me change to a Z4!)

Forum looks great some lovely examples and great useful advice

:)

Welcome. There are some great well looked after cars in the for sale section on here

welcome its got to be the roadster not a tin top

x2 - therefore you need to get it faster, with a new insurer  Welcome

Cheers guys and thanks Taz for clearing that up for me. It'll definately be a roadster

The problem I have is that my current insurer won't let me add the Z4 onto my current policy (I drive a Renaultsport Clio 182) for the remainder of the policy, so there option was cancel my current policy (10 months of which has passed) and get a new one, losing nearly a years worth of no claims... And at the age of 23, the diff between 4 and 5 years no claims is quite substantial!!!!! So it means waiting a couple of months before I can sell the clio, get the 5 years NCB and find myself a Z :)

**Disclaimer, I'll probably end up with a completely different spec to the one listed :P

The coupe aficionados will be along shortly to rubbish the roadster. Shortly after that the M brigade and Alpina fans will tell you why their choice is best. Then the arguing over colours, interior, mods etc etc

Welcome! You've come to one of the friendliest car communities on the web

That's all well and good but when you're a child like myself an M/Alpina is out of the question!

Ah, I also forgot the differing age ranges and insurance opinions!

There are some youngsters in Ms on here. Tomscott is one I believe. Plenty of advice on insuring them when you're relatively young to be found here if you explore the search function.

I myself will be eligible for Saga insurance in a timeline my mid life crisis is uncomfortable with!
