Hi all. I've owned my 2003 3.0i for almost a year so thought it was about time I joined. I bought it from another forum member ( Gov ) - a good friend of mine. The car's only covered 31k miles to date and is in really good condition - I thought I was fussy but Gov is in a league of his own ! My old car was an MX5 that I had from new - I couldn't bring myself to part with it so I still have it - 27k miles. The Z4 is fabulous to drive - obviously is a lot bigger than the Mazda - in a different class. In the year I've had it has behaved impeccably. Looking at the newbies section everyone is expected to post a photo - the only one I have to hand was taken at Gov's house a week or so before I bought it - it shows both my cars.

Hi right back at you ! My cousin Veronica lives in Crawley, give her a wave when you speed by

Hi and welcome at last. :poke:

I remember that photo, guess gov posted it.

So which do you prefer. Reason I asked is back in 2007 I nearly bought an MX5 with the hard top but then tested a Z4 for no other reason than I was at the dealer. It made up my mind though and a month or two later I had a 2.5si. The dealer had so much money in my car that as pre registered it was only 1k more than the MX5 would have cost for a car that was over £10k more at list.

I like them both, however the interior of the MX5 is much more stylish than the Z4. I thought that the MX5 was twitchy until I took ownership of the BMW. I do cherish them both but must admit that In comparison the Mazda Is a bit of a roller skate.

Has yours got an LSD. I remember the one I tested had one and noticed it on roundabouts trying to get the car to go in straight lines. From memory it's a fixed LSD isn't it. The one in the ///M is variable and day to day you don't notice it.

Sorry for being thick but what's LSD ? Do you mean the stabilisation button - yes I do have one that the Handbook advises to keep on.

Limited slip diff. 85% fixed lock up rings a bell for some reason or other. Might only be on the 2.0 model I was looking at.

Hi and welcome along.

I test drove the 2.0 MX5 before i got my car... Bit of :fuelfire: but in red i think i prefer the look of the MX 5... And you are right about the interior being better. But the engine and handling in the Z is leagues ahead!
