Hi from a newbie looking at Z4MC

wouldn`t mind seeing comparison laptimes between the Coupe and Roadster. Althought the Roadster is lighter, the torsional stiffness of the Coupe is double that of the Roadster allowing cornering enhanced suspension setup so in theory the Coupe should be better round the twisties

Maybe TopGear need some suggestions for their new series.

Roadster vs Coupé: where they get the same car in both versions and see which is 'better', faster, nimbler, etc.
We could have Z4MC/R, Cayman S/Boxster S, M3 Coupe/Cabrio, etc.

Remeber the time for the M3 on Top Gear was done by 'black' stig who was widely accepted to be not as quick as 'white' stig

You can't say that, it's racist!

:D

Ok.....

So what usless parts of the car do we all want to strip out to save weight...?

I'll start:
1. Reduce fat driver size... (stop eating pies...)
2. Lightweight passenger (if pax applicable)
3. Remove 'never lost' along with other prissy electronics...
4. Remove indicator stalk - as never used anyway...! (keep to one side for MOT purposes)

Yeah, you could go the Sixspeed route with carbon roof, lighter seats, CSL wheels and Sports exhaust. Dunno if Sixspeed knows how much weight his car's shed. Seen a thread on another forum an American guy has obsessively logged the mods to his car you would get some ideas from him. (Palantirion)

Car is quick enough as stock IMO but there will always be those of us who want to improve on the efforts of BMW's 'M' division. Get a roadster, the headroom is much better, about 93,000,000 miles or so :)

:)
Thanks
To be honest, if I was wanting to be serious about stripping weight I wouldnt start with a Z4M. My last but one post was meant to be a little tongue in cheek :D Then again... Performance mods are all consuming...

I am all of 5'6" so headroom isn't really a problem. Is there such a thing as quick enough?

Nope, no such thing as quick enough! 0-60 in 4.7 seconds was supercar performance a few years ago.

OK,

So I think I have a braking solution, thanks to the above advice and 6 pot thread

Exhausts? Many people fitted Miltec systems? Or similar? I would probably want to go for a full manifold - sport cat - silencer option rather than just the rear silencer boxes.
I realise this would then need a possible remap to suit

Any recommendations here..?

Please excuse my questions as I am looking at the costings of the upgrades I know I will want. That way I can budget for the car and the 'other bits'... hehehe....
