Good day one and all,

Just a quick hello, I have been perusing the forum for several months while I l have searched for a Z4, after owning many cars over the past 30+ years (50+) including a few drop tops, Escort XR3i (2 off) / Elan M100 / Elise / MGFT / SLK280 / Alfa Spider 939 (3 off), that's before we come onto tin tops which is a list far to big to remember.

I have never been a big fan BMW but always loved the look of the e89, my son has had three BM's (1 x 1 series and 2 x 4 series) and the drive really impressed so I have finally purchased my first BMW which is a 2011 23i M Sport Highline edition in white with black LTHR, would have liked a red interior but couldn't find one with the spec I wanted and more importantly within budget.

Car is well spec'd with the usual highline toys, IDrive / PDC (F&R) / Heated seats / Extend light pack / Pro media / Bluetooth / Extend storage pack / Cruise with brake function / 326 wheels / Chromatic dimming mirrors interior & exterior / Wind deflector.

Regards colour, I think the e89 looks superb in white with yellow, orange, DSB or red being the other options I would have gone with if I could have found something.

Power wise the 204bhp is adequate for me as I am typically a relaxed driver all be it a petrol head as do I enjoy my cars.

Car is going into BMW next week to get an issue with the handbrake resolved so I can pick up some point in early Nov once we are out of lockdown.

Found the forum of great help when searching and buying, knowing what to look for and questions to ask - cant wait to get the car now and patience is seriously not my strong point especially when it comes to cars.

Pics will be posted when I have the car, for now a dealer image will have to do :D

I hope so, I want to try and keep this car more than 3 months, typical car stays with me for 5 to 6 months and then it is gone, longest survivor is the SLK at 30 months with the Elise and AR Spider LE at 24 months each.

Going to try and break my record.

Welcome to the forum.

Most of my previous cars only lasted 2 years or so, but I'm into my 7th year of E86 ownership! :D

Shwmae ! Welcome to the Forum, I'm totally biased but you have the best colour for the e89, closely followed by Estoril Blue, great looking car and I love the whippy, will be changing mine from the stubby soon I have decided !

I am still waiting impatiently to collect the car, they had a error code thrown uo and changed the wheel speed sensor despite me telling them it is a battery and probably a software update issue.

Went back tonight to collect a courtesy car until mine is back from BMW and spoke to the workshop manager and he just said that I seemed to know more about than his team - I told him to take a quick look on line to see how common the amber "P" is.

Said he will throw a new batt on tomorrow and see if that sorts it, told him he will now need the software update from BMW

They garage are pretty good in all honesty but the waiting is killing me, the car looked just as good today as it did when I test drove.

I love the white with yellow or orange next on my list - whip may stay as well, I quite like it but may buy a stubby when I fancy a change for an hour, seems cheaper than buying a new car as I believe it improves performance and mpg

I've had whippy and stubby, but currently just look indecisive with a semi-whippy. :?

Going back a bit while I am in my 7th year of Z4 ownership I am on my 3rd one.

Still waiting for collection, the car is in BMW (Bath), they have had the car since yesterday at 14.00 and finally started looking at it today at 16.00

They have finally said its a software update to get rid of the amber (P) on the dash - they are saying the update take 8 hours - is this correct as I would have thought a few hours max.
