Hi-Fi weirdness...?

 Mostly Holland. Sometimes UK.
I thought my amp had packed up as I can't bring up the radio, CD or BT connection to play music.

Then yesterday I received a phonecall in the car, via Bluetooth and then only realised afterwards that the ringing was coming through the speakers, cancelling out my theory that the amp was borked. Or does it?

Do I assume correctly that if your phone is connected via BT that the ringing and callers voice will be played through the speakers via the amp in the boot?

If yes, then I have a challenge to track down why I can't play music, listen to radio etc.
Any ideas?

I don't have premium hifi so can't say for sure but of course even those with Business CD (i.e. no external amp) who have BT integration can still receive calls through the loudspeakers. Given that the ULF (bluetooth module) is the same it would seem likely that it doesn't need the external amp to receive calls over the loudspeakers.

Ah right, so effectively the bt phone signal is switched and comes from a separate amp in the bt module?
 
I think so, but it's a bit of a guess (based on the fact that I have no ext amp!).

Edit... I think the ULF module sends a line level audio signal back to the head unit on pins 6 & 12 of connector C.

Might be worth a quick look in the boot to make sure the amps not got wet. It's common on the pre facelifts for the amp to get a soaking because of where they fitted it. They moved it to the main bulkhead between the boot and cabin on the later cars probably because of this.
