I’ve just joined today as I’m looking at potentially getting an E86 as a first car! I’m just finishing up my degree in mechanical engineering and know the basics of owning and maintaining these slightly older cars. I’m looking forward to hopefully getting one (if the price is right haha), but can’t wait.

So far im loving reading over some of the issues people are having and it’s nice to see so many passionate owners. Hopefully that will be me soon too!

In the meantime thanks for having me here, I look forward to learning as much as I can for now!!

Hi Sam and welcome to the forum from a serial E86 owner.

That would be a mighty impressive first car, although the insurance cost might be painful!

As you say there is plenty of information on here about what to look for but I'd also recommend checking the edges of the tailgate for rust which can be an issue.

Hi Mr Tidy! I will do! And luckily I worked for a few years part time doing commercial driving so luckily my insurance isn’t as eye watering as I once thought!
