Hey everyone

Currently looking for my first Zed - a (hopefully) post summer bargain E85 3.0 or SI Manual (the E86 might come later)- to fill a RWD hole in my life

Just checking in to say Hi

-------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Got one :) 2006 3.0SI 95k - Piano Black trim, Great condition M seats

Done so far
Driven the best derbyshire roads
Added Aux
Reset passenger window
Got cable / Got my head around INSTA
-Removed Transport Mode (woohoo - got blower :) )
-Ran through Test Schedule / Cleared errors
-Tested / Reset vanos
Cleaned washer bottle (think its still leaking - new filter bungs ordered)
(Probably forgotten something)

To do
Sort bottle
Think ive got a heatshield rattle - only noticible at low revs (hope its not vanos)
...jack it up for first time - just found axle stand points
Give it a better clean / wax / polish
Cant decide if headlamp washers are working (test/ignore)
Think ive got a duff exterior temp sensor (test/ignore)

Will add some better pics on a nice day. Already learnt (/lurked) loads in this place

Hi and welcome.

Definitely a good time of year to be looking - why not just go for the E86 now?

There are a few for sale on here!

Happy hunting anyway.

Hi Static, you can’t go far wrong with a 3litre zed :driving:
What’s your car history like, anything of note? :?
Rob

Thanks everyone for the welcomes

Was definitely my thoughts too on the time of year, the 3.0 seems like a crazy bargain at the moment. Was looking at a baby porker S, but this just seems like the reliable option and minus the porker parts/servicing premium

I'm a few quid off a nice coupe, and Ive got a few other projects I need to liquidate first I miss my old open top, and love a bit of autumn winter topless driving :driving: so seems like a no-brainer.

Plan is to get an E86 while theyre still stupidly cheap and keep it

Thanks mate, nothing too rich. Funwise, Ive had a few mk1 mx5s - lastly a supercharged 1.8 pushing near 200bhp (was my daily driver till I blew it up   )

Welcome from another ex-supercharged MX5-er! Mine was an MP62 charged Mk2.5 pushing out close to 250bhp. The charger died in the end but I still have the car, back at standard power. I just haven't been able to bring myself to sell it after 16 years of ownership :headbang:

My Z4 is a 35i. Quite a lot different from the '5!

That sounds like a good plan!

It looks like I'll need to keep mine anyway, as lately they do seem to have been stupidly cheap. :(

Car looks good - I hope you are enjoying the 3.0Si engine.

Thanks :)

Let’s just say, tonight I drove three times up and three times down the mile long bypass (not at all on the way home) - just to listen to the snarly upper rev range 😁 still grinning

Cool. Welcome. I'm still in the honeymoon period as well. My car stayed in thegarage today. Maybe tomorrow....... :-)
