Hi guys, I'm currently looking into buying a Z4 3.0.
Obviously being new to the forum I'm after picking a few brains, basically depending what spec I get I'm a sucker for a nice set of wheels, so was wondering what the biggest wheels I could get on a Z with 25/30mm drop??
Also would be wanting the alloys staggered so I need to know the right sizes/offset etc etc??

I think I'll have a budget of about 8.5/9k inc wheels, so I'd be looking @ an 03/53 plate & poss some M3 wheels??

Any suggestions welcome!

Cheers
Eric :D

Hi and welcome to the forum  .

Below is a link to the OEM fit 18" wheels which were options on the 03/53 3.0 showing offsets for the staggered fit of 47f/50r. You can use the same link to check the various M'£' wheels and you will see that the offset is considerably different which suggest a direct fit for BMW OEM M wheels is not an option. If you do a search you will see that several members have fitted 19" rims some with a degree of success but others who report issues of rubbing at extremes of steering or suspension depression. Tyre choice will also have a significant impact on ride quaslity - ditch the RFTs and go for conventional quality manufacture tyres.

In my signature is a quick check list which you can print off and use to QA any potential purchase. Good luck in your search. :)

Seen up to 20" wheels fitted, but the tyres profile becomes tiny and makes the harsh ride of the Z4 even worse.

I opted for the 18" ellipsoid 107s, they look great and the ride is very comfortable. They look bigger than they are as the design goes right up to the edge (not dish). They seem to be a popular choice.

If you're looking at a 3.0 you already have a 15mm drop courtesy of BMW. Eibachs seem the popular choice to go to a 30mm drop. With 30mm you either need to stay with OEM Z4 wheels (max 18") or reps matching the original offset - I have genuine M wheels on mine and the offset is wrong so they stick out a fair amount - you'd get a lot of rubbing on the arches if you then also lowered the car.

Good luck with the search

Hi

I have gone for 18" 108's with 20mm spacers. Fills out the arches really well. Again I will add to previous posts that getting rid of run flats is the way to go.

Cheers for the fast replies lads, bit of a minefield out there with so many options!! :headbang:

I have been reading through many posts & slowly educating myself as to what my needs would be, to date though I gather I'm best to leave the nav/10 speaker system ice alone & go for the more standard sytem for a head unit & speaker uprgrade?

All my previous vehicles have all been modded, RR Vogue Kahn spec/MK5 R32/STI's/400bhp 4x4 cozzi's etc etc

Finished a 14k S1 Rs Turbo Cabriolet rebuild in 2008 wich won best cab @ FORD FAIR 08.

So basically I'm after a new toy for the weekend & Z4 seems to be the choice over a Boxster S!

I take it that the running costs are very reasonable over the year??

Cheers Lads

Hi & welcome

Just to clarify something Pawn Sacrifice says. The 3.0 comes with 15mm lower M sport suspension as standard, the Eibach springs fitted by several members myself included will only lower the car a further 15mm approx.

I an also running 19's without issue.

Hi Richard,
It was actually your car that caught my eye, looks the muts nuts bud.
Could you tell me the drop on your suspension & offset of wheels etc??
As I would like to do the cost exercise for wheels/tyres/suspension.
REALLY LOOKING TO OWN 1 BEFORE XMAS.
