Hello z4 lovers. I'm seriously considering a z4 and just looking for some pointers. I've seen a 2014 20i sdrive that looks nice, is there anything to look out for when buying? (I know you will say use the search button  ) would this be the 2 litre turbo engine ? Thanks in advance :D

Main question is what options does it have? Msports heated seats? Idrive? 19" wheels? Cruise? Theres a lot of options.. post the link to the car and you'll get more useful feedback..

Is that registered as a cat D etc? If it is you could struggle to sell later on, the 18i/20i & 28i all use the same 2litre turbo engine.
It’s also got 19” wheels not 18” as listed, they’re very prone to cracking on the rear inside rim-they need checking as bmw charge a fortune (£600+) for replacements

Thanks guys it will be summer only car and I've had my last 2 toys for 6 or 7 years so resale not a great concern as long as it's been repaired properly. Not looking for something overly complicated I've got a mercedes so at the moment the electrics are a nightmare.

Hi and welcome.

I don't know much about that generation of Z4 (E89s), but I believe the 18i, 20i and 28i all use the same engine so it's just a question of mapping - Smartbear above will know as I think he has had his 20i done.

Just remember to tell the insurance company if you do.

Wow, what's not to like? M-Sport, nice red heated seats, manual, LCI (facelift), cracking wheels (no pun intended  ) and low mileage.
The turbo can be mapped to get some really good numbers (see smartbear's example).
No i-drive, but there's now an aftermarket option available that looks really good (see anubiszed's thread).
Car's a great colour, but I may be biased :P

What exactly is I drive ?
It's the pop-up screen where the storage box is in the centre of the dash of the car you're looking at. Used for navigation, stereo, phone, car computer functions, BMW assist and so on.
Like all car-tech, it is looking a bit dated (but not as much as the 1st gen Z4's screen), and a lot of people prefer not to have it for that reason (and the cost of speccing it when new I imagine).
I see the one you're looking at has cruise control. I wonder if the E89 came with it as standard?
Anyone not have CC on their E89?

you'd need to check if Bluetooth is on it, because not all come with it despite the phone button on the steering wheel. defintely a written off one at that price. Nice combo though. Just bear that in mind for resale.

you can retrofit it relatively easily too...plenty of useful information on here.
Luckily the one the OP is looking at has it already.
