Heya (and newbie folding mirror question)

Hi all, new to the forum and indeed new to the car picked up a 3 year old sport coupe on Weds. Been lusting after a Z4 for about 2 years, couldnt quite justify the extra pennies for a folding hard-top and instead found just about everything I wanted in a coupe. Ive put nearly 200 miles on it already after driving round to show it to friends and relatives, but it means Im getting used ot it already.

Quick question I couldnt find in any of the FAQs - Ive never owned a car with folding wing mirrors before (and this car doesnt have electric auto-folding mirrors) do I just have to force them up/in? Ive tried once and it didnt seem to give at all, were any 07 reg coupes built without folding mirrors at all or do I just need to give it some welly? No hidden catches or anything I should be pressing?

they do take some force - remember though that they rotate upwards towards the front of the car

and congrats of the purchase :D

pics

Assuming you don't have the auto folding option that I have, just press the button and they fold up ...

If you have a button below the left right selector on the mirror adjusters then they are electric.. otherwise push them about 45 degrees upwards and they will fold up and in.

Thanks all, Im pretty sure mine aren't electric so I'll just have to try giving them some welly later! Here are some pix:-

These were taken when I took it down to Bognor to show my dad, then I drove him over to Bournemouth so he could look at Bentleys, which are more his kind of car, ah well.

I always think I'm going to snap my mirrors off when I try to fold them!

Welcome to the forum. Ruby black? That's a stunning colour.

Ye, got 'em working yesterday :-D.

Wow, you can tell the colour just from these pix? Ye I am very happy with the ruby, goes well with the red leather inside.

And now time for my next noob question, I spent 10 minutes poking around the engine yesterday looking for the dipstick so I can check my oil but I just can't see it! Where is the dipstick (other than behind the wheel ;-))? It really doesnt help that I'm not mechanically minded and havnt owned many cars, but a mechanic friend of mine who was just admiring the engine couldnt see it either which made me feel slightly better although he really didnt spend any time looking for it.

post-facelift cars don't have a dipstick for the oil, you have to rely on the electronic one from the ignition...
