Hi and welcome to the forum Kenneth - your Z4 looks great in red.

I hope the roof fix isn't too expensive.

Hi and welcome - get your shop to relocate the motor into the boot (left hand rear recess) so in future it stays dry and can be accessed easily to service/check.

Hi, that’s not cheap-the right guys can do this job in under an hour for £80! :o
Rob

I don't know what the weather is like in your part of the states but if your leaving it where BMW put it than keep checking the drains are clear so water goes past the motor rather than swamping it. BMW put it in a plastic canister lined with foam rubber - this acts like a sponge so once it gets wet it stays wet. This is a real problem for UK based cars which is why a lot of members on here move it into the dry of the boot.

All from inside the boot - the roof is never disconnected from the car!

the guys over here can revive even the dead-est of dead motors!

Welcome to the board. Great looking Zed. Yes a proper little cottage industry over here, sorting dead and dying roof motors. So much so that the price is much cheaper now, than it was several years ago. I guess if you have less failures over there then the price won't drop. You pays the going rate and enjoys your new P &J :driving:

and because they get access to it and pull it into the boot it takes about 30mins to an hour. DLV moved mine (as an insurance -it was still working) in around 20 mins.

Even rusty corroded looking motors come back to life after a soaking in diesel. I guess necessity is the mother of invention and with so many failures members in the UK worked out another way to access the motor and saved a lot of time (and money) compared to BMW book time.

We have several Forum members who work miracles resurrecting dead roof motors and relocating to the boot without removing the roof - all for around £80
For example this sodden lump was brought back to life in under an hour by DLV:
