hey guys just wondering if anyone could help me, im looking at buying a z4 3.0i SE just wondering if there are any faults or hidden costs that come with this model aside from the insurance lol. cheers

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It would help if you were to specify the sort of age, budget, manual or auto, etc. that you want then you'll get a much more detailed response from owners of that model and experience they have.

In general nowt much to worry about on a Zed different to any other 2nd hand car.

IMHO that's a good vintage to buy. Taken the big depreciation and later than the very early one's that seem prone to broken rear springs.
There are no real worries on the 3.0i auto

I'd just be checking for damage at the front on the lower edge of the spoiler and undertray. Very vulnerable, along with stone chips on the nose

Check hood is in good condition - very expensive to replace.

Seems from recent buyers experience that there are a lot of accident damage examples around so be very fussy on any respray, panel gaps, etc.

Get one with the sport button - big difference
Xenon headlamps are almost essentail as halogen are poor
Accessories are the real differentiator at that age so decide what you want from Sat Nav, to ///M seats, heated seats, upgraded stereo to the style of alloys, etc. If you can get a hardtop you'll be glad come Winter for both comfort and style and they're worth £900+ come Autumn.

FSH is nice to have as you'll be out of any warranty by that age

There are many around so if in doubt walk away.....

Good luck

Good luck

its a 2004 on a 54 plate, 3.0i SE automatic with 56k miles on the clock, thanx again :D

Took one of those for a test drive before buying mine - I liked it. I had a preference for the manual, but if you like an auto then you'll be very pleased.

I have the same vintage but in manual... no real issues but I think these are prone to spring issues too (I had one broken, as did at least one other owner of same age car). I have halogens and wish I had xenons, so that would be a good move.

Oh.. one issue to mention is the window mover (or whatever it is called!) is prone to breaking, and is £100 - £200 to replace at a specialist. Right pain in the arse if it goes though, ur possibly stuck with a window "down" until it gets fixed!
