I've come from an Elise R which was starting to wear on me a bit so thought it was time for a change and have gone for a Z4C on the looks of the rear end really!! It's just blooming lovely!

Hope the pic comes out, otherwise someones goner have to tell me how to do that!

hello and welcome, did you fit the stubby or was it already on?

Been on here lurking for a few months so I knew it was the first thing I should be doing!! Got the citroën one from eBay, fits perfectly.

Hi and welcome, a nice looking coupe and a great colour what colour is the interior

Black, took me a while to find one that was blue and had a black interior.

Welcome along Kenty. Can you tell me some more why you moved on from the Elise. I'm developing a serious Elise itch that I'm finding increasingly difficult to ignore.

For me the Elise was always my dream car, saved alot for a deposit and finally my dream came true just over two and a half years ago. I used to love driving the car, noisy, fast, amazing handling, rare to see on the roads so always got attention, felt really proud to own it and it did feel special.

However, after two and a half years of ownership things started to bug me about it. The ride was getting too harsh, it felt half the time I was actually doing damage to the car! The air con didn't work, not a massive problem but it was there so it should have worked! The door didn't shut first time in the cold. The Mrs didn't really like it much, not a big problem 6 months ago but she has since got pregnant and I felt it was my duty to make her at least slightly comfy whilst carrying my unborn child! I felt like there was a huge problem just around the corner, although it never broke down once, a really quite mechanically sound car, but it was just a feeling probably a deep seated thought that they have poor reliability which isn't really the case now, and of course two winters in the Elise was two too many for any man!!

BUT, given all that was annoying the car really was one of the best out there, you can't really compare it to a 'normal' car tho, it's basically a go kart with a boot, I would say if you have the itch, itch it, you won't be disappointed. You could easily buy an older one, run it for 6 months and sell without loss if you don't like it, problem is though, the little plastic cars get under your skin!!

If your really interested I can always answer any questions about them but SELOC is probably the best forum for Elise knowledge.

Kenty, Thanks for the honest reply. I think you have highlighted the areas that I was worried about. An Elise makes more sense as a run about rather than a main car. Even though I only drive once or twice a week, I think the Elise would be a compromise to far. Probably best to save up and have the Z4 and an Elise :driving:

I know exactly what you mean. I had my Elise 111S for 2 years and loved it for what it was - basically a fast, track car that was road legal. It was great fun but for that experience you had to compromise on comfort, luggage space and 'useability'. It's not an every day car and winter use is a real pain. But having said that I always wanted one (the itch if you like) and I'm pleased I had one. I sold it 2 years on for exactly what I paid for it so I would agree - get one, experience it and move on.

For interest, I bought my Coupe for the same reason as you - I just loved the looks and never considered a roadster.

You do have to compromise with it and I was generally happy with that for most of the time but was just time for a change, no doubt about it though I'd love one again, supercharged one I think! But I think the ideal would be to have it as a second car.
