At a McDonalds car park in Grafenwohr Germany waiting for the fella that is buying the Zed. I always get nervous with these deals. But the car made it in one piece. In fact. After having driven to Grafenwohr at a steady 75MPH. It returned 32.2 US MPG. That's the best I've every done in it.

The reason I get nervous. I traded a 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe a lot of years ago. While driving it to the dealer in a sane manner. Without the slightest indication nor prior noise of any sort. A connecting rod decided that it wanted some fresh air. And promptly extricated it self from inside the engine block. Oh dear  as I was a penniless young military guy. I couldn't afford to fix it. So to the junkyard it went. Ever since then (1978-79) I have always upon starting the process of selling or trading a car. I hear all kinds of noises. Then I wonder. Will it make it? The Fiat was the only car that has done that to me. But it did leave a lasting impression.

Even then. The 124 Sport Coupe was a great looking and very fun car to drive. I guess it falls into that area of qualifying me has a petrol head for having had that Italian love-hate relationship.

Hi Bigdog, hope your buyer turned up OK and the sale went through as planned, let us know.
Your post reminded me of a time I had agreed a trade in price for a new car and the night before I was due to collect, I ran into some scaffolding poles jutting into the road, pretty severe damage down the off-side. Well pi**ed off but it all ended OK, its only money!

The deal is done. I'm officially Zedless. First run up through the gears by the new owner and a rather big smile appears on his face. So he seems very happy with his new motor. His wife noted on what a beautiful car it is. Always good when the other half likes the new toy. He has been told to join this forum.

Boy! That old Fiat. I can laugh about it now. But at the time. It was a heck of a financial hit.

Going to be a long winter though. But it does have a heater. So I'll get out and about with it now & again. May need to get a set of spare wheels and mount some all seasons for the cool months. It currently has Yoko A048's. Those might be a bit rubbish this time of year.

A sad day for you then, so what next after the zed

I bought a Caterham Super 7

Great... will you be retro fitting heated seats so can come out all year round

I'm an old BMW motorrader. Just need to mount a plug and put on a heated vest. If I recall. Those vests only consume about 5 watts. Which I think is about .4amps @ 12V. Well within even the weakest alternators output.
