Out of interest Woots, are you a Crab or a WAFU?

im a WAFU

A man who looks after the semen :poke:

Far braver man than me knowing how vicious the North Sea & Atlantic are

the covering letter is the most important aspec, make sure its good so that they will look at your cv, even if its more or less the same as the profile/key skills you need to grab the attention

if ive got a foundation degree in engineering....

should i put adam wootton FEng in the title

or just leave the title off it...

No, don't do that, it looks so pretentious. Always puts me off when I see it in a candidate. Blow your trumpet in the CV/resume, but don't flaunt it.

Andy CEng, MSc, FIMechE

See what I mean?

Are you still in? Go have a chat with your Squadron Education and Resettlement Officer. If you're not, phone Waterfront. They should be able to sort you out with a template, or at least check it for you and let you know how it reads.

Might be worth chucking in your latest report or getting your DO to write something up as well.

Hmm - this is an interesting one! Firstly best of luck - sounds like an exciting opportunity (what about the zed?!).

I've successfully/happily moved from RAF land to city working, had a few jobs and interviewed as both a candidate and an employer quite a bit, If i could be of any assistance i'm happy to offer advice/read through anything.

If you're still in, then the best thing you can get is a letter of recommendation from the most senior person you can find, or a decent write up from your direct CO. If you're based at Yeovilton it's a lovely base, i had a great time visiting there. :)

If writing your CV for the first time - stick to one page if you can, avoid waffle. Two pages absolute max if you must, i suspect (from my experience with RAF OASC etc) the military recruiters will go through your CV with a much finer toothcomb than civvie rec-cons (who are in it for commission and therefore the faster they filter them, the faster they make dollah). I'd treat your tours as jobs, and be sure to cover your experience, progression, responsibility and any projects you got to work on. I have a personal statement at the top, my academic record, employment experience, then achievements, followed by any skills not highlighted by the experience section - whack in hobbies/interests at the bottom. Oh - and yeah as someone said - the CV is a response to the job application, each CV you send off (even if only one in this instance) should be designed around answering the requirements they're asking in the job spec. concentrate on relevant experience and skills/quals that target their demands, then go for broad stuff that makes you a more rounded awesome employee.

thanks to everyone who helped me out the past week :)

my application is currently being looked at

my boss however thinks i should be chasing my commission rather than going abroad :D

Your boss isn't wrong. Get commissioned and think about Canada later!

Otherwise you might meet 2nd Lt Truman RM at some point in the next couple of years. (Assuming he passes selection) :)
