Help with un-deleting back box

Hi everybody,

New here and my first post :D

I recently picked up a lovely 2003 E85 3.0i with the knowledge that back box had been deleted and it is just a straight pipe now. I don't mind the sound around town but after a few long journeys I just cannot put up with the drone at higher speeds, it is killing me
I seem to have a few options and am asking for advice on what you would recommend:

1) I think I have sourced an original stock back box and it's possible this could be put back onto the exhaust pipe (picture linked here https://ibb.co/PsWSJP9X and attached below)
2) Add a silencer / muffler to the pipe that is already there (any recommendations?)
3) Replace the entire pipe (not my preference)

If any of you have done this, have any experience or advice it would be greatly received.

Thank you :D

I undid a back box delete on my E86.

Sourced a used back box and asked the seller to leave as much pipe work attached as possible.
When it arrived, it was easy to cut off excess and join the two together using exhaust repair kit and some gungum.

I was then lucky enough to sell the custom pipes to another owner for the same price I paid for the back box.

Yeah I’m hopeful the one I sourced does the job. The box comes in about £80 with postage and then whatever my mechanic charges me. If it’s sub-£400 I’ll be happy :). Th thanks.
