Help with top issue - not motor

A couple of years ago I replaced the top motor on my 2007 Z4 Roadster, thanks to the advice and tutorials from the forum. I'm hopeful that someone here can give me some help on the latest problem.

When I try to lower the top, it will disengaged the hooks and I can hear the motor running, but the top will not lower or raise. I can raise and lower it manually but not automatically.

I thought there might be a problem with the manual release cable so I messed around with it a little. Now I get a yellow light on the console but it will not even disengage the hooks.

The first thing to check is the parcel shelf in the boot is fully dropped. I believe the yellow light suggests its not.

You are correct. I just came back in to post an update and saw your post. When I put the tray back in I did not properly engage the switch.

That fixes the immediate problem (nice weather/stuck top) but now the longer term issue. One of my problems is I am on business travel for the next few weeks and don't have to tools I need to take the top off to fix it.
