Help With My Problem, Central Locking

Hi all,

This is my first post as i have only had my z4 2 days. Already i have discovered a problem, my central locking opens my drivers door normally (everytime i press the unlock), however the passangers side door remains locked. but if i open the passenger door from the inside it unlocks and then usually lets me unlock and lock with my key fob. Please can you all help with this, could it be the something like the solonoid?

Have you tried pressing the unlock button twice?

There may be a BMW install key option where one press unlocks the driver door and the second the passenger.

It may happen once or twice a year on most BMW. My Z4 unlocked both sides but I could not open passenger door from outside and inside today. But I unlocked/locked several times with the remote key. It worked again. Is Z4 your first BMW?

Yeah i have tried the press unlock twice and no luck, i noticed it happened when i brought the car but just thought i was doing something wrong, since it has happened everyday and i now know it has to be a fault somewhere, yeah this is my first BMW and not got off to a good start lol,im hoping it goes better from when i get it fixed. anyone know of any checks i can do to try and locate the fault???

If you bought the car from BMW dealer, it is covered by AUC warranty. If it came from independent dealer, they should fix it. It should not be expensive if you have it fixed at BMW dealers.

Did you try another key? You should have 2 remote control keys and 1 spare key (plastic).

My '03 is doing the exact same thing. Started doing it once in a while, but has become progressively worse.

Any other ideas??

I'm on my original battery, was told that could be a factor(although it starts/runs fine)?Thanks.

Mine does exactly the same.

Recently replaced the actuator on the side with the issue with no noticable impact.
It then only leaves the contral locking controller, I'm told by BMW its relatively common for relay's to die in the controller and unfortunately they cant be replaced without replacing the whole thing.

Not sure if it will be the same problem as mine, but it does sound very similar. If it is BMW quote approx £250 for the part + fitting, which needs to be done at a dealers as it needs coding.
