Help with CSL & Tires

Hey guys,

I'm trying to decide which csl to go for on my coupe si

I've decided between these two from cmwheels and bmautosport however rears for bmauto are different being et45 instead of et40 from cmwheels. what does that mean ?
once wheelks are on id like to add lowering springs without having scarping arches or rolling them.
are quality on both of these similar

PM either "jamiez4" or "z4pilot" who bought Jamie's CSL reps
Both were fitted on Si coupes , what is most critical to avoid the arch rub is go 225 35 on the front tyre as opposed to 235 35

235 seems fine on mine without lowering on the front! but you do plan to lower so go with 225.
 
I would go for the Atomics, at least they have a brand name. The paint job on the reps I bought from CM Wheels was so bad I ended up having them re-done after a couple of months.
 
I've got ET38 on 8.5j on the front, the same as the Atomics you're looking at. I run 235/35/19, lowered on Eibachs and there's no rubbing. 225/35/19 looked a little too stretched for my personal preference.

Is yours a roadster or coupe ?
Its a really fine margin as to whether they catch or not but i know at least 2 forum guys with coupes on those alloys that rubbed with 235 35 19s after lowering :?
 
Mine's a roadster. I had 5mm spacers on at first so the offset would have been ET33 and it did rub, however I took the spacers off making it ET38 and haven't noticed any rubbing since.

Yep, I can confirm that on Eibach's I got a fair bit of rubbing with 235 tyres, so switched to 225. StigJ also runs 225 on 8.5 width fronts - they are very slightly stretched, but it's not very noticeable. It stopped 99% of the rubbing, although I do get a tiny bit on sharp dips - the sort where there's been subsidence of the road surface. Specs on the wheels are; Atomic CSL reps, 8.5 ET 38 fronts, 9.5 ET33 rears. Rears are very flush with the arches, but I've no rubbing whatsoever at the back. Quality of the wheels seems pretty good - no issues with the paint quality.

What tyres do you run on the back? I had very slight rubbing with my 265/30/19 at ET35, took the spacers off and returned to ET40- no more rubbing.

I'm running the same tyre specs as yourself at the rear. I have had an alignment done though, so it's running a fair bit of camber at the back - perhaps that has helped avoid rubbing? Just goes to show that when you push the wheels to the edges, production tolerances of mm's really come into play - some cars get away with it and some don't... I don't think JamieZ4 had any issues at the rear either with these wheels when he had them on his coupe. Wore through his arch liners at the front though with 235's lowered on H&R springs :P

bmautosport supply and fit tires too but a lot of them are Nankang. Would I be looking at around £700 for tires ?

Front: 235/35/19
Back 265:30/19
 
Camskill have the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 for the sizes you're looking for. Great all weather tyre, use them on my zed which is my daily. They do have quite a chunky profile though compared to Michelin and others, but lots of rim protector so that may be why. If it's just a dry weather car I'd go for Michelin Pilot Super Sport which are the best dry weather tyre in tests but not in the wet.

Nexens are arguably the same as Nankang if not a bit better (n8000) i had them on my Z4 coupe now Z4 Pilot's car (pictured above) runs the same - they are very good for the money.

£700 just for tyres alone?

The Nexens cost me about £350 all round

Never tried Nexen so can't comment but you can also get a set of Kumho Ecsta Le Sport for £340 delivered which are very decent performers for the money
