Help with centre console

Ok guys,

Had my Z4 Coupe for 3 weeks now. Absolutely loving it, just two issues I've had, one being the window regulator breaking, thought that's going to be fixed.

When I bought the car, I knew the centre console surround by the gear stick was cracked (where the hazard button is) but its not been an issue up to now. I've been a little over zellous when pressing the unlock door button and due to the cracked plastic I've acidently pushed the button into the centre console, not the whole way, it's pushed in about 5mm. Is there a way I can retrieve these buttons without removing the entire centre console? any special tool or trick? Does the Gear Stick gator remove easily?

If I've not explained myself well, I'll take a photo to explain.

Get your fingers into the leather gear surround and it just pulls out. A sort of scooping motion with your fingers facing the back of the car. This should give you access :)

All sorted! I think I shall repair the cracks at another stage. Unless someone knows the price of a new surround off the top of their head?

Uh expensive :headbang:

Mine needs doing as well (piano black) and new ones look to be about £350 ish :thumbsdown:

The OP is talking about the piece that holds the hazard and door lock switch, not the actually trim piece if i read correctly.
 
If the TS indicates which color this surround should be - and whether or not he would be interested in a beige one which has no crack wahatsoever, just normal wear and tear - I might be able to help out (for the beige one that is) or someone else that has this part laying around in any other colour and is willing to sell ...

As stated above, simple plug & play by pulling the leather of the gear stick "bag" and than placing that into the new surround and simply pushing everything back. :thumbsup:
 
just found this one out myself manual is £78 with vat or for automatic trim piece is £98 with vat .
god nose why the price difference
