Hi all, just after some advice on behalf of a neighbour. He wants to sell his car private but hes unsure of what price to put on it and its not something id really know how to price given the type of car and the time of year ect. Just wondering if anyone could help since weve been talking about it tonight down the pub and i promised id do some research.

His car is a 2003/53 BMW 325ci M-sport Auto Convertible in blue with blue roof and black leather interior. Its done 106k and is in need of 2 wheel refurbs and one dent man dent on front wing. Not many autos about so difficult to see what others re going for. What do you think he would be able to get for it selling now?

Thanks in advance
Matt

Check out the prices on auto trader. I think that's the best place to get an idea of prices for dealer and private sales.

It would be worth getting the wheels and ding sorted as well.

Agreed, will cost £100 to sort the wheels and £75ish to sort the dent. Otherwise expect any potential buyer to quite rightly knock several hundred quid off your asking price for the hassle.

He's probably only looking at getting about £2k if advertised at £2.5. At that age, mileage and price people won't be put off by the odd small ding or curbed wheel, hell, it would probably be expected and almost certainly accepted. I wouldn't bother my arse putting any money into it. I'd give it a polish, take some nice pics and price it at between £2.2 - £2.5 and be happy to come away with £2k. Point the small blemishes out in the ad and it removes the reason for any buyer to beat the price down by more than £200.
