Help!! Wheel Cleaner Advice Required

Afternoon Guys and Gals,

I've been using my normal shampoo to clean my wheels with a separate mitt, however I want to spruce up my wheel cleaning routine.

My question is what is the best wheel cleaner to use on a regular basis?

I've also seen a few videos of guys using "wheel woolies"....anybody have any preference/ recommendations?

Do I need anything specific to clean brake discs with?

What do you seal wheels with and what do you use for tyre dressing?

Advice appreciated and thanks in advance, people.

Steve

Use iron-x to get rid of any contaminants then your normal shampoo should be fine. I use poor boys wheel sealant but there's a heap of products all with their respective fans and detractors.

As luck would have it I've just this min finished doing mine. Here's a quick picture of what I use.

Start with the soapy water and a wooly mit. Then go over it with turtle wax ice (its ph nuutral so doesn't attack the lacquer and goes red on brake dust so you can see if you've got in all the nooks and crannies); work in using a 1" paint brush before moving on to the microfibre cone to get in the spokes and drum. Rinse with clean water and a sponge. Next do the tyres with auto glym tyre dressing (I've found it lasts longer than any over) applied with a different 1" brush. Finally, seal with cheap ass furniture polish rubbed off with a clean microfibre cloth

Just got to go for a drive and clean the discs

bilberry wheel cleaner

Ez brush

old sponge

poor boys tyre dresser

+1 on the above.

I have tried countless cleaners that promise the world but this is the only one that delivers.

EZ brushes are simply brilliant (just careful you dont pull off the plastic nipple when cleanijg near to the caliper).

How do you guys work the bilbbery wheel cleaner as I'm getting poor results.

I spray onto a dry mildly dirty wheel leave for 5 minutes. Rinse off with hose and basically nothing is removed :x

For the Wash -

Car Plan Trix Shampoo
&
AG Custom wheel Cleaner

Long spoke brush, small brush and wash mitt.

Tyres and Sealant-

Meguiars Endurance Tyre gell or AG Tyre dressing. (Depending on how much time I have)

AG wheel seal ( I fancy trying the armourall wheel seal)

Thanks for all the advice guys, hopefully have my wheels looking as good as they can be.

Is the megs tyre gel water based do you know?

Im not sure, perhaps not as much as AG, it does last a fair while and throughout rain.

Here is a recent pic using MGs, its not too shiny and still retains a natural look.
