Help to replace wheels

Hi,
I have a 2015 2litre Z4 which I love. It has original 19 inch wheels and run flats. Have just had a BMW service and they showed me cracks in all the wheels and said I need to replace at £645 each + move to non run flats.
I have taken a look at after market wheels and they look very nice but there is so much discussion on what size wheel to use on front and back and things such as j for the wheels. I would like to buy some nice wheels on line + tyres and then ask a local garage to fit but am concerned I may buy the wrong size / spec wheels.
Can i get advice on best size wheels combination to use + what i need to request on the spec and do i need to buy a new TPMS set ?
Also if can recommend best place to buy the new wheels.

Hi Rosie, that's bad news indeed. Should be able to get some nice sets for much less than that though..
You will get all sorts of advice on here, the predominant theme will surely be, don't buy runflat tyres, but carry an inflator with gunk that seals the tyre in the event of a puncture.
Not sure the TPMS valves will swap over that easily. Depends on the care the fitters take I guess.

I would suggest taking the time to browse through the forum, look closely at the threads with pictures of cars on, plus any mentioning wheels etc. You will then get a better idea what you think will look nice on your particular car.
(Of course, putting a few pics of your car on here will help...................ad keep the photo police at bay as well :wink: )

Biggest decision is probably whether you want to keep 19" wheels or go for 18". Again, looking at some on here may help with that decision. Then you can move onto particular styles, and finally decide on tyres.

Another option is to view all the Sales on here and see if anyone has any you like.
 
Oh and also, if you give a rough idea of where you are based, you may even find members close by so you can view particular wheels actually on cars, to see how they suit.

Hi, i had the same issue with cracked rims & fitted 19’ Veemann wheels instead of bmw ones, non runflat Michelin tyres as well :thumbsup:

The sad thing is Bmw speccd the car like that. It may be worth asking them to consider assisting. After all they’ve sold wheels for UK ROADS.

Best place I’ve bought a number of sets from are Rimstyle and funnily enough eBay.

Another thing to look at is getting them repaired. Your allowed 2 cracks per wheels for MOTs. If you can keep below this it will be cheaper that way.

If you’re in Surrey check out Original Car Spa. They do a lot of refurbs like this and you can even have new tyres and your wheels any colour you like.

Hi, the op’s car is 5 years old, bmw won’t assist with cracked rims. I asked for assistance with mine at 3 years old & the answer was NO.
I had my damaged wheel repaired with weld and in my experience they crack again, it’s less hassle fitting smaller bmw rims or going for quality aftermarket wheels :thumbsup:

It’s mainly 19’ wheels with low profile (30) runflat tyres, e85’s aren’t as susceptible to it.

I’ve entered into an alternative life zone since buying my Z4. If ever there was a car BEGGING to be personalised this is it! (And I do not normally use !! Either).
I’ve been looking for some 18” wheels that will compliment the car. At present it has black MV2s which I don’t like. I’ve looked at Dare F6s and the. I found these. I’ve worked with M4 666’s in the last 2 years and think they’re a great looking wheel so I’m going to get these and, at £500 they’re not overly expensive.

I had these on my car for a year and loved them. They're definitely marmite though!

Varies on spend , stock & choice but generally it would be around 10% then p+p on top or free p + p , whichever way it helps :thumbsup:

Thank you for the cm connection. I placed an order today. Wheels with me by the end of the week. Ordered the 666m and they’ll have extra smoked lacquer on them before fitting. Rather excited.
