I've been suffering some serious hiss and interference with my DICE Ipod setup to the point where I'm now listening to the radio.
I have now bought a car noise filter hoping that it will reduce the interference but as I'm not very electronically minded I'm not sure exactly how to install it. Can anyone give me some educated guesses on how to do it? Very importantly which cable of the DICE to I need to splice into?

Even if you haven't done it yourself personally any advice is welcome as I'd still like to get some ideas on how to do it.

Thanks guys!
Here is the picture of the filter and its wires:

the blue wire needs to be connected to the postive lead of the DICE. The red wire to the postive terminal you have been using for the DICE.

The black bolts to the chassis of the car.

BUT! I suspect the noise/interference you are experiencing is a "ground loop" and can easily be fixed by using the same negative lead or chassis point for all the "systems" involved.

Easiest way would be:

splice the wire that provides -12V for the headunit: BROWN, pin 12 and connect the negative lead on the DICE onto that same brown wire: bye bye ground loop / alternator whine.

Thanks GVfB!

PS: If I do the above, won't that remove the grounding and therefore potentially create a safety hazard?

I'll try this out today and report back..

Update:
Have now installed the noise filter and there is *possibly* some improvement, although it may just be because I also moved the DICE box.
I spliced the noise filter in series onto the brown wire of the DICE before the connection onto the car's wiring and the black cable screwed onto the chassis of the car as ground.

The bad news is that while I was attempting to maneuver the car inside the garage to optimally position it against the lighting, I gently hit the wall and now have a nice scratch on the front :headbang: Naturally my immaculate paint maintained with care for 3.5yrs is no more..
