Help - stranded in France - part number/availability needed

I am in France at the moment - came over for the Le Mans 24 hour and then planned to spend a few days here afterwards. On Saturday night, we went into Le Mans town for something to eat, and when I got back to the car it was making a loud groaning noise when I turned the steering. Called out Green Flag (thank goodness I got Euro breakdown coverage!), who were unable to fix but diagnosed the problem as power steering hose fractured.

They delivered it to the local BMW dealers (Legrand BMW) yesterday, and I have just been told that the problem is with the "biggest" of the power steering hoses. Cost to fix is 566 euro, of which the hose alone costs 300 euro. Car is a 2006 Z4 M Roadster (right hand drive).

The big problem is that they said that BMW in Munich are out of stock of the hose, and that it will be 10 days before they can get one! We are due to return to the UK on Saturday, so it would mean leaving the car here and then a separate trip to retrieve it.

Does anybody know whether there are any of these hoses (sorry, I don't have the part number) available in the UK? If so, I could try to get it couriered to Legrand BMW.

Many thanks for any help.

As an alternative, you may want to look for a shop which is specialized in manufacturing hydraulic hoses. The BMW part seems to be garbage anyway - it often leaking (mine leaks, too), and in your case it showed that it can also fracture.
A hydraulic hose is not rocket science these days, and I have reasons to believe that a shop in France may build for you one which fits perfect and is much sturdier than the original BMW part.
And I guess that you may have your car fixed within one day, maximum.

(e.g. call Chronoflex, tel. : + 33 228 030 030 or + 33 (0) 826 10 5000. They seem to have a mobile unit. http://www.chronoflex.com)

UPDATE: The part number is 32417841377. Unfortunately my local BMW dealers in the UK (Partridge Hampshire) have also told me that there's a 10 day wait on this hose.

I'm getting Green Flag to return the car to the UK as it is (which they tell me can take up to 3 weeks - luckily I have other cars that I can use), and I'll get Partridge to replace the hose for me.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune ......
but you may have helped me sort out my problem ......

I have steering Noise issues ......

What is the steering noise you guys are experiencing? I have a creaking noise when I turn the steering wheel, only audible at low speeds due to road noise.

What a bummer to happen on your trip to Le Mans. Good to hear green flag will return the car. Though three weeks is a bit of a wait. Will they not provide a hire car, if needed, while it's being returned?

Have you had any dealings with Partridge yet? Mine is booked in there in a couple of weeks for an inspection on the brakes and probably some work. Haven't been there since they have been taken over. Hoping they will be nice and get my stuff done under warranty!
