[Help] Service History

Hi all,

I am currently considering a trip to view a Z4 E85 3.0 manual. I have been sent the below photo of the service book. The car currently sits on just over 50k miles. Being a new member with no prior knowledge of BMW servicing procedures, I am looking for advice/opinions.

What to make of this service history? Obviously its all been completed at the same BMW dealer, but I don't know if anything is obviously missing? The last stamp is 2017, so I presume I am looking at a service right away? I have been told trip computer says oil service in c6k miles?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

To me service history only tells part of the story. Check mot history too and ask if any additional work has been done....tyres, brakes bushes etc.

As a matter of good practice I always fully service any car I buy. Given that the last service was 3 years ago I’d be inclined to get an inspection 2 done just for peace of mind. There’s plenty of very reputable indie garages that will be a fraction of the cost of bmw.

BMW work on "Condition Based Servicing" which is either the mileage (and that varies according to how the car is used) or 2 years.

But on these cars only the mileage (not date) until next service flashes up briefly when you start the car. So strictly speaking an oil service is already a year overdue and the brake fluid hasn't been changed for 5 years - it's recommended every 2 years!

I'd definitely want to get an oil service and fresh brake fluid, so bear that in mind if you start haggling!

As Nick says you might want to have a full Inspection 2 with a car that is new to you, but to be fair it had one of those last time it was serviced and that wasn't too many miles ago.

I'd definitely be looking for a good BMW Independent to do the work and give it a general once over.
