Ok,

This might sound a bit desperate and cheapskate but I thought why not! Since buying Paza3's M Coup I've had a list of things to sort out. Now most of it has been minor and I've sorted myself which is good but I'm left with the following:

Installing the high pressure headlight washer jet and resolving the more than likely associated washer fluid leak eg http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37929 - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13701&hilit=headlight&start=15 - Apparantly (I'm hoping it's just a hose that's come off or something and that's why the high pressure headlight washer has come off) Am I right in thinking CJ10jeeper is an expert in this field?

I also have an aux cable to install and faulty glove box to fix but am hoping I can do this myself...

I have bought all the parts to complete the work but I'm really not DIY enough to do it myself plus I'm getting married in 3 weeks so time is an issue, especially as we're having a sort 'driving' honeymoon so need the car all sorted for that too.

Spoke to some Indies, they are either booked up for weeks or saying on the phone "oooo, rear springs, that's a big job, known to be difficult ££££ blah blah blah". Couple of local garages are saying the same and don't wanna go to BMW for obvious reasons. It appears quite a few of you guys have posted up how relatively quick and easy it is to change rear brakes and rear springs, even on an M. And the headlight washer will be a bumper off job and hopefully quick install and am hoping the leak is a loose hose and why the headlight washer came off in the first place.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say, is there anyone on here who knows what they're doing within say 30ish miles of Bristol that I could drive too and have you do the work for some cash and a big thank you? Or if not, any garages you have used that know Z4's, know what they're doing and won't charge the earth for doing it? I don't mind travelling a bit further if someone is really willing to help me out, I will be going to East Midlands area next week...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D
 
rear springs and rear brakes are a doddle to do... honest. the most difficult bit is getting the spring in as you have to push down on the arm... if someonelse can put a foot on it for you and push down its easy...

I would be more than happy to help you but unfortunately the other end of country.. but honest if you can take the wheels off you can do it.
 
rear springs are a 10 minute job once the wheels are off. i'd happily do it for free but i'm a bit far from you :(
 
Cheers guys, two offers of help but both miles away :headbang: Just my luck!

I know you're saying it's a doddle and not difficult etc but honestly I do find this sort of thing hard and will get it wrong and don't want to ruin my pride and joy or endanger my life!

I know I agree, he is. But he can only squeeze me in to do the rear springs and that's not until the 21st, he's busy building some race cars! He was so helpful when I popped in, diagnosing the rattle immediately to the springs and obviously has a lot of knowledge. It's just I need those three things done before my wedding in under 3 weeks! Real shame he's so busy right now (not for him I suppose!)
 
Where abouts in the East Midlans are you going? My mechanic is brilliant and his rates are very reasonable, he'll get the job done no problem.

He's based in Burton-on-Trent so might be a bit out the way.
 
If Redish can't fit you in, you could try Forza Motorsport over the bridge from you in Chepstow... found them very helpful and their set-up is first class. Guy who runs it is ex-BMW...
 
Ok thanks mate, I have heard good things about them online so they must be pretty decent. Didn't have a great experience last time I used Clayton Cars of Bristol and called these guys: http://www.wheelbasebmw.co.uk/ and they sounded a little dodgy on the phone...
 
As an estimate how many hours do you think those three tasks will take? Bearing in mind I'm supplying parts, some garages like to charge extra labour to cover the cost of losing out on parts profit...

It was great to work on your Z4 M Coupe. Glad you were happy with the results :D

Here's some pictures of the work if you're interested......

Rear brake pads were not sliding on the caliper carrier correctly due to corrosion, so were transferring a non-flush contact patch on the brake disc (hence corrosion in the centre of the rotor):

Caliper carrier's importantly cleaned free of flaking powder-coat, rust, brake pad debris, dust etc:

High temp brake paste applied so the brake pads are able to slide with no resistance (more advanced than copper-slip):

Installed (genuine BMW rear brake discs, rear pads, rear sensor):

Your rattle from the rear was a broken rear coil spring (very common):

Oh no Woo7dy I thought you were in Bristol else I would have done the springs for you no problem! I'm in Markfield so just down the road from you in Belton, I've also just changed the springs on my coupe in the last few weeks! Never mind! Yours looks stunning anyway, I'll keep my out out for your Red Z4MC!

Ha no worries Scott, Mac from Shepshed also offered help too. Thank you though mate, really is amazing and heartwarming how friendly and helpful people are on this forum, anytime the missus complains I'm on here I just show her how great people are and she's ok about it! The work done by James from Redish was top notch, as you can see from his post. A great guy, not that I want to see him too soon for obvious £££ reasons! But if I do I it's all good! Can't wait to drive my now purrrfect Z4MC down to Cornwall for my honeymoon next week, for a fortnight of fun! This forum is great :thumbsup: :)
