Hope someone can help ? Replacing side light & fogs with new led bulbs. Fitted fogs no probs, but side lights a differant story, had a look at the threads on here & looks easy, but are cars fitted with xenons or newer models different, It looks like the sidelight holder has screws holding it in ! Hope someone can help before i torch it lol

The sidelights are on long plastic sticks, just need to reach in with finger tips and pull.

i actually prefer removing the bumper and headlamps to change bulbs. it's quite hard work if your hands are any bigger than a 5 year olds.

Doing that lets you ensure a good seal on the back cover too

Leave the bumper in place and just remove the engine to get good access to the headlamp rear covers.

Come on, seriously after you've done it once swapping bulbs is a piece of piss.

Can't see a stick thing ! Looks like a holder with screws holding it in. Will take pics in the morning. Had a look at the thread on here, but mine is different. It's a 07 coupe with xenons.does that make a differance ?

if yours has Bi Xenon headlights with halo ring side lights then you need to twist the holder anti clockwise, it feels like you are going to break it, but you shouldnt do

Also if you find some led side light bulbs that dont cause a bulb wanring please let me know as i bought some a while ago, tried them & they brought the warning light on :-(

Cheers Mikey. That sounds more like it. It has bi xenons. Think I will wait till I have proven bulbs then. Will see if anyone on here can help.

My cars lowered on fk springs. theres a distinct lack of space to set about removing and fitting bulbs inside the wheel arch.

Bumper and headlamp removal takes 10 minutes.

Hi mate.

Check out my other post a few weeks ago about this for my old 3.0si

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47021&hilit=Halo+bulb

There is a link in there with pics on how to get to it. I had to jack the car up to get access since my car was lowered and there was not enough room for me to get access.

Your next challenge will be the bulb itself! I won't spoil the surprise in that thread.

Cheers
Jamie.

Cheers jamie, You don`t know where to get bright white led bulbs error free ?

Hi mate - i dont specfially, but there is a thread on here (tried looking but cant find it right now) where somebody in the US fitted 20w instead of 10w into the halo bulb holder and reported back without any issues. There is where I got the pic in my OP from.

If you want to get a standard replacement then the only place I found was viw the consumabulb website - who were very good and it turned up next day (6 quid tho - ouch!) better than 40 odd from the SSSSTEALER!

jamiez I tried the 20w bulbs instead of the 10w bulbs and they did look loads better, but one of them lasted about 3 weeks :( i bought it from some foreign country though so could be a crap bulb
