Hi all been looking at these for a while thinking of taking the plunge, seen what I think to be a nice example near Glasgow hopefully I will be going to see/buy it on sun all being well.

As for an introduction I am Andrew the mrs is Jennifer, we’re 23 and looking for a nice sensible, sporty prestige car again after selling our tt over a year ago and turning to the dark side with an impreza ( was a great car but really not worth the haste)

I have had a look through the site and have a good idea of what to look out for, the car im looking at is for sale in a dealers looks a good price it’s a 2003 in grey with red leather 4 owners from new, 3.0 manual all for around the £8k mark, think that looks like a pretty good deal.

Anyways I thought I’d chance my arm and ask if anyone is near to Glasgow/Hamilton that has a good knowledge of z4’s could possibly have a look over it with me before I part with my hard earned cash. If you don’t ask you don’t get I suppose.

Any help would be appreciated, also comments on wither or not that sounds like a good deal, ive hpi’d it its all clear no finance or cat c /d.

Regards.

Grey/Red interior was one of the top colour combos on my list when I was looking.

Good luck

BTW, what's the mileage and options/spec of the car? We can then tell you if we think its a good deal

Welcome :)

I'm close to Glasgow but wouldn't class myself as an expert in any way, so wouldn't be of any use (I wouldn't trust my own judgements lol). TBH AlanJ's buying guide covers all of the common Z4-specific things.

When I bought my Z4 (privately), I arranged an inspection by an independent BMW specialist - just by luck there was one <10miles from the buyer's house. Cost me £25 (the local BMW dealer wanted 2hrs labour to check it over!) and gave complete piece of mind for the mechanical aspects of the car and picked up on the broken springs that otherwise I wouldn't have known about. Might be an option and something to think about (there's a few specialists around Glasgow - one in Ibrox comes to mind but not sure if there's anyone closer to Hamilton area).

If it's the car I'm thinking of (Sherwood?) then it looks from the pictures that the driver's side headlamp washer cover is missing (hole in bumper). Looks to have heated seats and the best alloys :) and 61k miles is nothing for that age of car. Looks to have grey roof fabric too which is rare but nice.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Thanks guys, yeah that’s the one, in Sherwood. I looked at it about 2 months ago, surprised its still there, the dealer didn’t seam very interested when I looked at it. The headlight washer cover is missing my only concern is that its missing due to a light bump. I will need to investigate further. If I can remember correctly the roof was a greyish colour and the heated seats are such a bug pull for me I loved them in the Audi.

My intension was to make an offer to the dealer as its been there for a while, they class themselves as a trade sales garage so mite be worth a go.

Also the headlights are silverfish but ive looked at a few that are black is that standard or a mod?

Regards.

Hi,

the headlamp washer covers do fly off now and again. I had a couple in my time. They take 30 seconds to fit (but you will need to paint it). no big deal.

Silver headlight surrounds were standard for 3.0 and M. Black on the smaller engine models.

rgds.

Welcome and good luck.

I'm in Glasgow too but know hee-haw about cars other than stats - not much use if you need to get your hands dirty or indeed check out a car for someone else.

Independent BMW man mentioned above sounds like a good idea to me.

Hi Andrew i looked at that car 3 months ago , looked ok but it was raining.if car is clean and drives ok check what kind of warrenty is offered with car.remember good time to buy bad time to sell.good luck with the car.
