Hello everyone...i have a problem with my soft top...at the beginning when i try to close it stopped at the middle and the red lighe start blinking....for close i had to put in manual mode and close. After sometimes when i try to close the soft top didn't move from its position but soft top motor work...it's like it is always in manual mode...i try to pull and push many time the red draft but it doesn't work.
what can it be that does not work?

Thanks

Hi, hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along to advise, however before someone comes along and mentions the parcel shel and boot microswitch, you can eliminate both from your investigations. If you get any roof action whatsoever (roof unlatches/Windows drop) then the shelf and switch are fine.

Manual bypass plunger is stuck in on the motor due to corrosion. Needs the motor pulling to release and re-lubricate. Might as well move it to the boot while you are at it.

Yes I'd say thats correct. It sounds like your motor is dying and when you've pulled the red hoop, the bypass valve has gone in but stayed in. So now even when the motor does spin it's not building any pressure to move the hood.

Basically, you need the motor out, serviced and relocated to the boot.

Depending on whereabouts you are(?) myself or several other members can do this for you.

Thanks for answer...so i can take motor out with myself...but i don't understand..is it possible to remove valve inside and relocate this motor or motor is dying and i have to buy new one?

It sounds like your motor is still trying so once it's out of the water and you've free'd up the bypass valve I'd guess you'll get away with your existing parts.

Hi thats ok....so when i pull out soft top ..for relocate motor inside boot instead its original location i have to do something special and pay attention to something or not?

There are lots of threads on here about roof motor relocation, just search for them and you should be able to see what is needed. Don't think you need any special tools and you don't need to remove the roof to move the motor :)

Hi..so finally i move soft top motor inside roof...IMG_20190414_125558.jpgIMG_20190414_125615.jpg

when i remove from its box i found water inside...but motor work, hidraulic liquid it seems to be enough otherwise it doesn't push the soft top....the lever that manages the valve moves when i try to pull....how can i fix it?

Well done for getting the motor out
There are members on here who can help you with your question, they will be along soon.

Hi, sorry I can't help you, apart from the chance you can revive these motors by putting them in Diesel for a while. There are a few members who work on these, I'm surprised no one has offered advice yet ?

Thought I'd add to this thread rather than start another about roof motors.

I've separated my motor from the pump - I had fluid leak out from beneath the pump when I did this. Is this normal? The fluid was whitish & frothy rather than the normal brown colour.

The motor is in the boot as I relocated it after it was swimming for some while. I suppose water could have seeped into the join between motor & pump.

My pump is making a right racket and not moving the roof, latches unlock & I can move the roof manually when I activate the release arm.

I'm presuming that the hydraulic fluid should not be able to leak out of the pump onto the motor spindle. Is there is a seal at the join or a repair kit for the pump that I can buy?

Cheers

Monster, see the thread linked below, specifically the response from Bowser to my opening post. It at least answers part of your question.

Thanks Lance - I'll look at that later. Given up for the day now.

In summary, the motor is fine. The pump opens the roof but struggles to close it from fully open. It can't lift the roof from fully open to about 40% closed but after that it can then move it the 60% to fully close the roof.
