Just unlocked my car (with the remote obviously) and it set the alarm off :S (extremely loud aswell!)

its going off about 30 seconds, stopping for 30 then going off for 30 etc.

i startedthe car 100% fine but the alarms still going off. moved the car onto the drive, its still going off. stopped and locked the car, still going off.

disconnected the battery and thank £&@? it has stopped.

I havent reconnected it yet. any advice?

You could try unplugging the bonnet switch/sensor, it is located at the back between the 2 strut supports. If no alarm sounds then its the switch.

why could that have set it off when unlocking though?
shall i just unplug it and leave it unplugged?
what am i looking for?

Page 3 shows you the switch sensor http://www.kneb.net/bmw/E85/Alarm%20install.pdf

unplugged it and reconnect the battery. alarm isnt screaching down the whole street yet so fingers crossed. Thanks Brian!!! :)

From what i gather, these are cheap as chips to replace. 3rd brake light, bonnet sensor, tax and tyres. Expensive month!

Glad you have silenced the beast, yep switch is a cheap and quick replacement

100% bonnet switch, take it out!
Soak it in contact cleaner or WD40 overnight! Press in and out a few times afterwards, should be sorted!

Dust seems to build up overtime.... This fixed mine
