Honestly that is the only thing that is keeping me going at the moment... At this rate I'll be able to afford M seats by the end of my shift (24 hours, so ends at midnight).

At the moment, I do on-calls from home which I find horrendous as you can never start doing anything complicated (I need to be in within half an hour of the call). I also find it impossible to get a good nights sleeps through fear of sleeping through a call! I'm moving back to on-site on calls in the near future. Before then however, I've got a 72 hour on-call in 2 weeks time :(

I can't even go out.... Because we ultimately deal with people money some of our SLA's are 10 min.

I have 1 on-call during the week per week which I work from home and the rest of the week i'm in the office. I also have 2 days on the weekend per month, today being one of them.

It can sometimes be so quite that I have to make sure the phones are ok, but on the flip-side it can get crazy... my record is 4am to 11:30pm.

i can sympathise... i am on call once a month... and i especially hate it when i forget.. go to the cinema/ bar/ club to have the pone ring

Z4MC - I'm currently on the Vascular "Registrar" rota for Glasgow! All the vascular units have been centralised and unfortunately they have lost some trainees due to that. Initially they ran a combined rota with the transplant guys but they have since pulled out which left two vascular registrars. At that point I had left the department but have since had to change posts so that I can fill in on the rota with another ST1. 1 in 4 24 hour on calls is a bit of a pisser I can tell you!
