HELP ......OEM STRUT BRACE

got the strut brace today that i brought from this forum , fitted it tonight on my 2.5 but the bar go s across the oil filler cap so i cant open it !!! is this right or have i put it on backwards ?????????????? HELP

It should point forwards

Unfortunately for the si it does cover the oil cap!

It was not designed for facelift model. You need to remove the brace when you add oil.

i suppose its no hard ship to take the cross piece of to top up the oil , but poor design for the cost !

It is not a problem for Zed with the old engines, but it will go over the oil cap for all N52 engines. If you look at BMW website, it is only suitable for Zed up to 2006 (pre-facelift models).

That`s a bit s**t, when I ordered it the parts guy didn`t ask what engine or year I had - he said there was only 1 available for the Z4.

Can you still unscrew the oil cap and wiggle it out ?

I also think your brace is slightly pressing down the black plastic tube to the air filter box.

Just fitted mine last night, its a shame the later engine has the filler cap right below it The M54 a picture of in on the S54 look find for clearance in comparison.

it does clear the air duct work fine , there is no way you would get the oil cap off with out removing the brace bar BUT should nt need to top up often
ill see if there is any improvement from a driving point of view if not ill sell it on to a pre face lift owner ....... form a q !

i have never had to add oil to my car outside it service interval.. so sure this would be fine.

Also its like a 10 minute job to remove 6 bolts and torque them up properly after..... not the end of the world shoulod you need to add oil.

Hi StigJ. Is this a custon Strut Brace or is it available to purchase somewhere? Have to say, it looks great. One of the best Strut Braces I have seen on any car.
