Help! New waterpump wont do bleeding proceedure!

Hi all

I've taken the plunge and replaced my water pump (pierberg), thermostat (mahle) and expansion tank (BMW OE). Put it all back together, put in some BMW OE coolant mix and tried to start the bleed process (key in and turned to on, heat on high, fan on lowest, 10 seconds on throttle) - but nothing! Have checked all connections and they seem fine/tight/clean. I put the old pump back on the connector as i know that was working, but that isn't even spinning up. What am i missing here?! I'm thinking there might be a blown fuse but don't know which one it would be for right hand drive cars (seems to be one on its own in the engine fuse box for US cars).

Any ideas?! Any help and guidance appreciated.

Not sure if it's the cause of your issue but did you open the bleed screw on the expansion tank as you filled up with fluid?
 
Dipped headlights need to be on, temp on max, auto off and fan on min speed. Also needs connecting to a charger so the supply voltage is 13v.

Not sure if it was the dipped lights or the fact that it had a bit more charge time, but it’s working now!!! Cheers Mike

Dipped headlights need to be on top stop the comms lines shutting down, which they do if ign on and engine off.

So to close this out, all has worked out well with the change. Been out for a decent run and temperature is holding steady in the middle of the gauge, and no leaks. The hardest bit to do was actually removing the expansion tank - a right pig to get out. Ended up with the bracket that attaches to the radiator coming away (but thankfully not broken) so took it all out as one unit and transferred to the new tank. Thermostat and pump hoses were a bit of an effort but not too bad really. All worth while for peace of mind...

Had similar- second time round I found it easier to pop the undertray off and get under it to see better!

Well done though
