HELP! New Coupe & Maintenance/Mods Checklist

Hi all, find some pics of my new ride below.

It's a 3.0si with 100,000km / 62,000miles.

I've done basic maintenance to the car so far, wondering what else may be required or specific to this model?

Maintenance so far at 95k km:

- Air filter
- Cabin filter
- Oil filter
- Engine Oil
- Differential Oil
- Transmission Oil
- Coolant
- Break Fluid
- Spark Plugs
- New Battery
- New Wheels
- Break Pads

Things that I am wondering may require maintenance. What should I be working on next?

- Timing chain or tensioners?
- Water pump?
- Rear springs?
- Any type of sensors?

Mods done:

- Bluetooth install
- Interior carbon fiber wrap
- Black grill
- Interior white lights
- New position bulbs*

Pending mods. Anything else?

- Lowering springs
- Remove CVT sensor?

*I have Xenon lights, for the parking lights there was a BMW assembly that I drilled in order to remove the bulbs. I started with some chinese LED and got a dash error and the blinkers went "ON" with low beams or parking lights on. I changed to normal bulbs and the error disappears from the dash when lights are not ON but once I turn them ON the error turns back up on the dash and the blinkers remain on, just like the USA standard. Do I need to clear the error? What's the fix?

Seems like you covered all the maintenance points in your list of things done so far, as to the bulbs problem its probably down to the bulb fail system which lights up the blinkers to draw attention to a bulb out warning. Cheap leds will cause this, probably best to code the monitoring system for this function out using NCS Expert software on a laptop. If you havn't yet armed yourself with any code readers consider getting BMW INPA for detailed diagnostics, you can get a package that will include NCS Expert to put on a laptop.
For a portable diagnostics code reader I can reccomend a Creator 310+ it reads all the modules fitted to the car. All available via ebay for reasonable money.

Worth checking Amazon as well for best price, ebay prices seem to have increased recently.

Thanks for your reply. So far I have ordered de Carly module since one of my friends has the app for all vehicles. Although he has no clue for BMW's. I like the interface and some of the functions are fool-proof. Let's see if I can deactivate the position light check automatically.

On another note, any of the preventive maintenance points worth considering? Water pump, rear springs and so on? My car is from Spain, so temperatures are quite moderate all year round.

I am a firm believer in Mike Miller's BMW Lifetime Maintenance Schedule, quite a few hits on Google, try and get the latest version.

Deactivate the hot, cold and check control for the parking lights.

If normal bulbs activate you've probably just picked the wrong wattage blub. If you're going to use LED avoid "CANBUS compatible" and other cheap versions, a decent brand such as Osram of Philips will outlast them. You still need to code out the checks, same for using any LED in exterior applications.

Hi and welcome to the forum with your great looking Coupe.

I see you already have the ZHP gear knob fitted!

Removing the Clutch Delay Valve is a popular modification as it improves how the clutch engages and can help 1st to 2nd gearchange quality.

I'm not sure whether I'd replace springs as a preventative measure, but if you go for lowering springs anyway that will address them. The Bilstein B12 Pro Kit is a pretty popular option that includes Eibach lowering springs.

I've not heard of any cam-chain problems on the N52 engines, but water pumps do fail. I had one die at 60,000 miles on my first E86 but my 2nd seemed to be on the original pump when I sold it on 90,000 miles so it's a bit of a lottery. Whether you get a new one just in case probably depends on how inconvenient it would be if it died, as they overheat within about a mile when that happens.
