Last drove it Friday evening. Sounds pretty dead when I turn engine on. All manner of lights flickering including ABS symbol and passenger air bag. Can someone tell me what to do please.
I've blocked in Polo in the garage so I have no vehicles!

Sounds like battery if no response from engine when turning the key. Have you got jump leads or one of those jump starting chargers? Need to validate condition of battery before doing anything else

Winter months are a killer for tired battery,s Ruby ,
if you have a trickle charger get that on ASAP or get a friendly neighbour to jump start from the points under the bonnet so you can get the Polo out
, then trickle charge it overnight & see what,s what .

I left a little light on Friday night. I think it's a flat battery. No engine turn over. My dad is away. Breakdown people don't usually come to the house do they. I don't know my neighbours. Was going to go to a Christmas lunch. Really annoyed!

Breakdown depends on your package. Eg. Aa etc. do home start. They might do it and charge you so you can move the car to get access to the other one if you don't have it with your cover, but it sounds like you need a new battery too. Mine is currently dead in the garage also doing more or less what yours is.....

Depends what cover you have. Give them a call. They will come out, but it may cost you.

Time to see which of your neighbour,s are good samaritan,s :)
If you had jumpleads could you get them on your Polo to get the Z going ?

Is there anyone on here who lives close to Ruby that can pop around and get her out of a jam

Rubes, rather than waiting for breakdown cover, go knock on the door of the person who looks like they look after their car. I'm sure they would have leads and help you out quicker!

Best of luck

Hi Ruby,
If it was just a flat battery run down by your 'little light' they will start the car off a boost battery (or jump start it off their vehicle) and then advise you to go for a 30 minute drive up the motorway to charge it sufficiently that it'll start again on its own.
If it is a dead battery they may well have one suitable on board or go and get one that you can buy.
