Battery only a year old. Could I have blown a fuse in disconnecting...never too sure on which (+ or -) to remove first.

You should be able to open the roof from the boot. Never tried it but I belive there is a manual release in there some where.

That's only to help you put the roof up in the event of failure.

To Lower manually you would need to get into the car to release at the front using the supplied allen key.
