Wheels ...Rims ...Mags ...
After maintenance and repairs...
One of the few 'things' that BMW left its Zed Owners to do.

I know several here have taken to changing your rims as an addiction.
I understand that stock BMW appear to be the most desirable
Pick One from here:

And I am feeling that 'jones'
So for the one or two here that have a SWMBO and something of a less than unlimited budget,

Please share with me your best excuses (that work) for expediting "A New Set of Zed Rims" to the top of the ledger.

The guys on the forum encouraged me to do it and I didn't want to look like I was pussy-whipped.... hope that's OK with you my darling

Come on, man up and buy what you want

If you need some man-maths, then find a way of making it obvious that new rims and tyres when bought together as a package are actually cheaper than buying the tyres on their own. Or something like that

Would your lady even notice the difference ? If not get them delivered to the tyre place & have them switched over away from home .

Agree

If she noticed, no Darling just new tyres and I've given the wheels a good clean

To be honest I've already started dropping hints for next year.
Telling swmbo that next year if I have any spare cash I'd like to get some new wheels with less spokes for easier cleaning.
I even showed her a picture last night of a Z with 224's saying these look nice dear what do you think they'd be much easier to keep clean.
She only grunted a reply but its gently planting the seeds

Some History

I have 3 sets of rims ...
Summer cruising are these:

I understand they are not everyone's cuppa, but I bought them from Tire Rack just after I got my Zed.
Fast forward to last summer.
Daughter has just gotten her 'full' driver's Lic. (We have a 3 level graduated system over here)
And while she is now unrestricted, her actual on road experience is fairly minimal.
Being a good Dad and wanting to show confidence in her skills,
I insisted she drive us home from a visit to the city.
Unfortunately the route to the highway was under rennovation and all the manhole covers and sewer drains were cut back awaiting leveling with pavement.

Not wanting to scare the crap out of her ..I bit my lip as she demonstrated less than evasive actions on some of these obstructions.

Soon afterward I changed over to Touring Stock RFT for a Fall Tour ..

And then Winter Set Up :

Flash forward to this 'cruising season.
And I detect a slight shimmy.
Appears to be from the outside front rim.
Not at low or high speeds.
Just between 40 and 60 mph there is a shake in the steering wheel.

Crossing fingers I get that rim balanced.
The tech adds a 1/4 oz and says I wouldn't even notice that.
Shimmy still exists.
I checked for a crack or a bend but could not see any real evidence of that.
And locating a replacement rim has proven problematic.

Wot Next ? :tumbleweed:

Pussy Whipped ....
Ouch ...

Bumpy ...

I hate 'discretionary budget" :? .
You have to double the cost of every item you want to match the cost of something she wants !
And that's only if you are lucky ..
Sometimes it's triple !!! :headbang:

just sayin.

Getting whipped by a pussy ...Is that necessarily a bad thing ?
