I have looked on the net regarding the placement of the EWS. Is it located under the steering rack?
As I will be swopping out the ignition barrel I wont need to delete the old keys as it shouldn't work in the ignition barrel??
On a side note I spoke with BMW Perth again and one replacement key would be $482 bucks i.e 270 pounds but like it has been mentioned if the keys are still about I run the risk of them coming back and taking the car.
1) The EWS module is just above the footwell speaker. (These are old pics when I had mine out to code new keys. My interior is all black now). Remove the trim under the steering column, and you should then be able to see it above the speaker. Also see my write up here: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=100603 . I should add, the key cutting is a pain in the arse ha - so don't bother with trying to CUT yourself, get a local key cutter to cut the blade
2) No, the old keys will become useless because the transponder is in the key, and accepted/declined by the EWS module. So need to do anything other than what you're already doing.
3) That's a lot of money.
BEFORE you fit you your new EWS module, at least look into this:

Just £18 and is all you need to code new keys.

£4.70 each. Those are the blanks I've used for myself and others. They include everything - so that includes the Remote AND the transponder.
As for the how-to, I'm more than happy to help guide you through it should you go ahead and buy them (the AK90+ and some keys).
All you would then need to do, is code the new keys to the EWS whilst you have it out. Once coded, you can fit the new EWS module, then in your free time, take the keys to a key cutter who will simply just cut the blade to match the blade from your new set. They won't need o program it etc as you will have already done it, so should be cheap to get cut. Get yourself a couple of keys so you can have 2 spares and 1 'main'
