Help from anyone who removed their roof

Hi,
I am hoping that anyone who has removed their Z4 roof may be able to help on this one. I am trying to find out if when the roof was removed did anyone notice any gaps where water could get into the boot area. I assuming that maybe where the roof seal slips into the bodywork there may be a place where the water could get in. I am getting water into the top of boot . The water appears to run in from “above” run along the top of the inner wing and drip onto the wheelarch. All drains are ok.

Hi, thanks for the picture. Very useful. Looking at the picture it appears that there may be two ways that the water could get into the boot. Potentially from the groove where the rubber seal fits into. Can you remember whether this grove is sealed or is it open. If open, then maybe the water can get in there. Or again looking at the picture and at the passeanger side, it look like I can see the inner wing and therefore I just need to find how the water can get into it.

sealed or open? not too sure what you mean but there is a rubber insert which seals the roof to the body. You can see in the top of the picture a small groove where its pushed into.

under that it is screwed to the body with a metal strip

I heard that the top layer of the roof lets in water, and the next layer is waterproof so channels the water to the drains. maybe your second layer isnt sitting right?

Hi, thanks, Do you know whether it is possible for water to come in where the rubber seal sits into the groove.i.e is the groove a box section. I believe that the top is fiited ok. When I look in from inside the boot the top appear to be sitting ok , not rucked etc. To me it appears that the water is somehow getting in between the plastic drain trays and the inner wing. It is getting most frustrating. It only happens in heavy rain / a hosepipe soaking. I wonder if the water is wicking back somehow from where the water runs of the roof and into the drain.
