Hi. Recently bought a MK 1 z4 3.0l with what I thought with a olive colour canvas roof until uploading pics on here was told that the roof was originally grey and had faded due to sunlight. So I'm now looking to restore the colour and can't find a pic of another Z4 with a grey roof for some idea of shade. Has anyone got a grey soft top if so could you post some pics please?
This is the current condition/colour

Not the best of pics as doesn't show how green it is ATM.

You can't restore it, unless you want to pay out for new roof fabric. The sun's UV rays has dyed the original grey coloured fabric over time. No way you can get this back.

I have seen photo's on here before somewhere of the grey roof. It's distinctly less green than yours or mine was.

Yes I'm aware the sun has bleached it but I would like to recolour it back to grey only I don't know what shade the original grey was :-/
Wanted know if anyone has a grey roof they could post a pic up please.

Think the only options would be to replace the entire roof or dye it another colour to cover up the faded grey.

Can find Renovo Fabric Hood Reviver in Black, Blue, Brown, Green or Burgundy on the Google.

Go for Burgundy. JE wil be along to tell you of the advantages of a Burgundy roof! :poke:

Yes there doesn't seem to be a grey available I may go for black then as I would like to get it sorted and black would be easier to maintain plus look good against the Sterling grey.

I have a red interior so not sure how red/burgundy roof would look against the grey would also show up marks I would guess.

Burgundy unfortunately is more brown than red. I've tried it:

The black looks OK, but wears off after a while.

I also done it bright red, looked ok from a distance but rubbish up close.

You'd think it wouldn't be to hard to dye a soft top these days and strange grey dye is not available. I may ask some car restoration company's as I'm sure it could be done :-/

Just found this  http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/131506866771?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE&skus=Colour:Dark%20Grey&varId=430879328796

You star! Can't understand why it never came up on my search. They do a dark grey and a light so for the price I will buy both so if the dark grey is to dark I can add some light grey to get the perfect match. Thank you matey and everyone else who has helped with my question

Never heard of this product so will be interested to hear if you encountered any issues applying it and to see the end result.

Don't forget to take some before and after photos

Yes I will do a review on this product with pics. It won't be for a few weeks yet as busy with work commitments but when the time comes I will allow plenty of time for a good cleanup of the soft top before recolouring it.
