HELP - EPS Power Steering Failure

Hi all,
I’ve read many threads, but none seem directly relevant, so apologies for opening a new one.
Last week, my zed suddenly threw up amber ABS and brake sensor lights, indicating a possible issue with the ABS sensor. I read many reviews, bought an OBD2 cable from Royaltec and eventually, having downloaded several updates, got it connected. I’ve not been able to find any decent installation or user manuals, but managed to find my way to INPA and apparently clear the error messages.
Unfortunately, now my power steering seems to have failed. I’ve checked the three fuses and all are intact. Another go with INPA states, D_EPS IFH-0009 NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROL UNIT. Because of this inability to connect, I don’t seem able to get any more details.
Does anyone have any idea whether I could somehow have caused my EPS to shut down? I was very careful with the INPA, and don’t think I did anything stupid but, given that I’ve not driven the car between the ABS reset and the EPS failure, I can think of no other reason for this to happen....

Just to confirm, your power steering has now failed?
Yes - sorry for the error in my original post, but the power steering is completely dead. I checked the fuses, and all are fine, so I think I may have reset something, even though I get the “NO RESPONSE” message.

Try disconnecting your battery for 15 mins or so then reconnecting. Whilst it’s disconnected, measure the voltage on the battery terminals and make sure its above 12.5v.

Thanks for the idea, but no joy with the soft re-boot idea. I’ve re-started several times, and the issue remains. It’s not a supply problem, as the battery, which is only 6 months old and trickle charged, is giving 13.1V.

An indie has now determined that the ECU is not storing the coding when the vehicle is turned off. The car passed it’s MOT yesterday, had new coding loaded and was working perfectly during the test drive. It was then left overnight and this morning, as soon as it was started, the EPS light is on again and there’s no power steering.
I think we’ve ruled out a battery issue as it’s around 6 months old, kept on a trickle charge and giving 13.1V.
The indie thinks the ECU may have gone, but does anyone else have any ideas?
Are ECU Testing or BBA Remain a good option for a re-build or can anyone suggest anyone/ thing else?

Firebobby used ECU testing on his steering ECU last year see topic https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=105626&hilit=steering&start=30

As above, you can remove the motor and send it off. I got it cheaper through ebay if I remember correctly. ECU testing did a great job and I have had no issues since.
Do it yourself and save a packet, just ask or PM me and I will try and help where I can :)
