Have you tried putting 2 pieces of wood either side of the knob and holding together with tape. You could then stand over the knob, hold each end of the wood and wiggle up and down while pulling. Sort of walking it off. You would also get more leverage.

Tried heat gun to no avail - except it got the leather cover off the plastic. Gonna try filing a knotch in it so I can get a hammer and coal chisel on it's ass

Have you tried gently hitting upwards with 2 hammers one on each side at the same time. Not big lump hammers but smaller ones called ‘ball peen hammers ‘. The tapping might gently dislodge it.

I filed out a notch in it so I can get leverage with a 1 metre fulcrum and it still wont budge!

With all that force applied sooner or later you could end up with a broken or bent stick, or a black eye. After all efforts so far, using a dremel could be more satisfying.
