Careful though I would NOT install VMWARE PLAYER.

That`s a really good heads up as I would have just installed everything . I have looked at icarsoft which of the 2 would you say is best for dealing with issues such as this . Obviously icarsoft is more expensive . Just need to order today so that I can get it sorted asap .

Thanks

The basic V1 icarsoft does not have the ability to function the ABS -
for that you would need the V3 which is much more expensive.
An Icarsoft V1 plus the cable and software from Bcables suits me fine.
Resets lights , dos the ABS function and steering readouts etc.

Others are available

You have the calipers on the right side? Ie bleed nipples to the top?
He would have struggled to get the flexi lines fitted if they were upside down though surely?

Yes bleed nipples on top  A good point though which from looking on the internet is not uncommon .

The Brake master cylinder on my Z4 does not operate the clutch - Its an AUTO for a start.

The 2 pipes from the Split system Master Cylinder both feed into the ABS / DSC controller Valves and pump.
This ensures you do NOT lose all your fluid from the master if you develop a fault on one Caliper.
You have 50% braking left
These are the independent feeds from the master cyl

Two outlets feed the front Calipers
Two outlets feed the rear Calipers

I have now received the cable and downloaded software . Connected to car and switched ignition on and everything seemed to be working fine BUT
I selected E85 as no option for E86 and then selected chassis . Only one DSC showed up which was DSC_MK60 . I selected this and a message came up saying " requested control unit DSC.MK60 not found. Control unit found DSC_85 . Program will be stopped " so that is as far as I got .

Any INPA users advice welcomed . Do you think I need to download a different version of INPA from beemergeeks for example ?

Thanks in advance

If you go to "Functional Jobs" you should be able to scan for all available modules for your car and see if there's anything else you should be scanning instead.

Ok I will try that .

Thanks Jakg

Its a matter of choosing the right programme for the module fitted to your car, good advice from Jakg to scan all the modules and make a list of whats in your car. You could try each one presented in the list it will either load it or as you found out reject the job as its the wrong programme for whats in your car, you won't break anything doing it this way. If you find the German scripts annoying consider buying BMW Scanner 1.4 also available on ebay for low cost. It is far easier to use than INPA and its all in English. I recently had an airbag light and despite trying to reset it using INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 I just couldn't get it to go out. DEcided to invest in a Creator 310+ via an Amazon supplier as a lot of members on here have good things to say about it. Once delivered plugged it in and found the B pillar Satellite sections and cleared a code that came back, light went out and has stayed out. Handy kit to have and less faff than breaking out the laptop all the time. Will still use INPA and BMW Scanner as both have their merits.

Thanks for the info . Unfortunately I don`t get the option for functional jobs and searching the internet there have been a few people with the same issue but I haven`t yet found a solution . The INPA etc I got was from a link provided by the cable seller . The link goes to a Mikes tools download . I have deleted everything from my laptop and run the cleaner and installed it all again but with no change . When I look on the internet people have E85/E86/E89 as options to select and more than one dsc to select but my version of INPA just gives E85 which shows E85 V1.11 and one DSC which is DSC MK60 . Do you have a link to the INPA that you are using or am I being a complete arse :?
